50 years of fuzz!
Just found this link on Facebook, to an article in The Atlantic:
http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/a ... oll/71959/
"Fifty years ago, a faulty connection in a mixing board gave birth to fuzz, which is a term of art. Although it came to define the sound of rock guitar, fuzz appeared first in neither guitar nor rock, but in the bass solo of country singer Marty Robbins on "Don't Worry." Guitar/bass gear is probably the only area where things actually were better in "the good old days." Now, it's just so much more profitable to cater to the 13 year old kids who'll make their parents buy a beginner guitar because it looks bad ass, take 3 months of lessons and then give it up forever.

I'm glad to be a part of it.
I think I speak for us all when I say "I <3 Fuzz."
I don't know where I heard the term, but it's catchy.
