Do you mean that spreading the belief that people should only refer to things in this "right" way would damper someones expression? Just clarifying because im curious to hear your thoughts, I somehow havent thought much about that point.D.o.S. wrote: ...I do think there's a real undercurrent of getting people to think in the "right" aka polite way about a lot of things that is much more prevalent that it was five or six years ago that can be particularly unhealthy...

Re: JUSTIN HAS AIDS
Going PC on humor is stupid. The purpose of dark and morbid humor, or in general to make light of serious situations, is to alleviate the sadness or anger that those situations otherwise necessitate.
In other words:
"Without laughter life on our planet would be intolerable." - Steve Allen
"I think that the tendency for most people is to fall back on a comic interpretation of things — because things are so sad, so terrible. If you didn't laugh you'd kill yourself." - Woody Allen
"I hasten to laugh at everything, for fear of being obliged to weep." - Pierre de Beaumarchais
"It is the duty of the humor of any given nation in time of high crisis to attack the catastrophe that faces it in such a manner as to cause the people to laugh at it in such a way that they cannot die before they are killed." - Lord Buckley
"And if I laugh at any mortal thing, 'Tis that I may not weep." - Lord Byron
Also, everybody knows I just have a cough right?

Eff naw! ILF needs a ghost to haunt the board. Don't rest in peace, bro! Get straight spooky in here! Tell us with Ouija boards what pedals are rad and who's just gooping over Joyo Pedals with your ghost powers. Tell us from your spectervision which OD is the most transparent and what reverbs are the most haunting.
Sorry you have to die and shit but its for a good cause, right??

I think as soon as we hit ten years of ilf membership we should martyr ourselves for the cause of fuzzsexual awareness.

Sorry to hear about your illness, but hey at least you'll be free of this mortal coil.
Although I must ask, was it worth it?

I mean I feel like there's some level of compromise necessary -- fundamental to participation in civic society, etc. -- but there's a pretty big difference between doing the right thing and saying the right thing and it kind of blurs the line into a situation where saying the right thing is more important than doing the right thing. Rusty's 'baby on board' sign example is a good one.kbithecrowing wrote:Do you mean that spreading the belief that people should only refer to things in this "right" way would damper someones expression? I dunno, my best friend (not gay) still calls me Fagmeister 2000 (FM2K, sometimes) and I've never felt the overwhelming urge to lecture him because it's funny to me. But I'm still a cis white guy, so maybe that part of me wants to beat up the gay part.
What's my point? Don't have one.

I still hold out hope for the word "fag" once again becoming acceptable vernacular, completely separate from sexuality and social issues.
It used to perfectly describe the type of fuccboi who-
1) reminds their teacher to collect a homework assignment (that *you* didn't do) when the final bell rings
1a) reminds [the teacher] they outright forgot to assign homework for the Christmas/spring break vacation week

Sorry if I came on too strong, I didnt want to lecture anyone.kbithecrowing wrote: (This) thread didnt upset me, I wasnt mad in any way. I just thought it would be a good opportunity to show that those attitudes still exist in daily life for some people even though it may seem that those are attitudes od the past.

It seems to have gone that direction lately. While I don't play vidja, I hear a lot of Destiny and the groups that are often played with use "fag" in that sense.rustywire wrote:I still hold out hope for the word "fag" once again becoming acceptable vernacular, completely separate from sexuality and social issues.

"that's so gay" on the other hand........still has a ways to go
