Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
so...an update on the silverburst...for anyone who's interested...I took it to the tech, becasue after 2 weeks, it felt a little dead and the pickups weren't great.
the tech had a look and told me it needed a full fret dress, neck adjsutment and wiring correction.
i was a bit hesitant, but i threw caution to the wind and said go ahead...a week a later i get the guitar back. He told me that there were 4 frets that were set higher than the others, so he took those down, but also took of a little off all frets to help playabiliy. He took the wiring apart and redid all the solder joints as there were so many cold ones...then he readjsuted the neck etc.
the result...i now have the smoothest playing guitar...and the pickups sing...the bridge and neck pickups both useable and just sound fantastic. I think the issue i had before with the neck pickup must have been due to the wiring. the bridge pickup now has a lot more high end to it, which means i can set the amp in a way that i'm use to rather than diming the treble...and the neck pickup has the warmth. These Piki pickups are really hot though...but they have nice clear charater to them...they are not that far off the dark winters...different...but in the same ballpark.

Did some jamming this past weekend with my drummer buddy. Wizard into Pharaoh was sounding especially awesome. Pretty much just ran with that. Got some riffs down for a new song, too.

i don't know a whole bunch of people. all my friends i've actually known since like middle school. i grew up in fairfax. moved to sterling like 7 years ago. was in some punk/hardcore bands in the 90's but never really into metal or 'doom' scene. aside from like Bloodlet, Sepultura, i was mostly going to punk/hardcore shows back in the day. listen to alot of different music though.

I gotcha, we probably have run across each other before as I was in the exact same circles at the exact same time. I went to punk shows all over NOVA and DC back in the late 90's, following friends bands and local legends such as PG.99, Darkest Hour, Crispus Attucks, and Majority Rule.hybridmoments wrote:i don't know a whole bunch of people. all my friends i've actually known since like middle school. i grew up in fairfax. moved to sterling like 7 years ago. was in some punk/hardcore bands in the 90's but never really into metal or 'doom' scene. aside from like Bloodlet, Sepultura, i was mostly going to punk/hardcore shows back in the day. listen to alot of different music though.
Anyways if your looking to jam or hang out I live in Sterling Park feel free to send me a PM and we can hang. I'm having some other forum members over this friday for a drone session if you'd like to attend!
