My 3620's been moved to the basement so I've been using a Fridge. Paired recently with a Vulcan and Century (as backup). This weekend, I'm hauling out the AD200.

Chinabacker is a near constant.

I require more info on this head, this whole stack is pretty fuckin sick. You don't see many of those marshall cabs around, and I've never seen a solid state hiwatt head...
This is actually my gigging rig! The Hiwatt is one of my weirdest (and probably rarest) gear finds ever. It's a Hiwatt NCA 108 Solid State (Bass?) amplifier. According to what I've found it's made in the early seventies and should be 200 watts (sound guys hate me, so could be true). Some sources also claim it's a hybrid (valve pre and SS end), but I haven't found any tubes in it... Only ever saw two other mentions of auction/sale when researching it, so I guess it's pretty rare. I basically got it for free too off a guy that used it for his DJ installation ( ) along with four shitty, stinking homemade particle board 2x12" cabs of which he said two speakers were new Eminence and the rest brandless, that I HAD to buy with the head and paid 200 or 250 euros for the whole bunch (don't remember exactly). Actually there was one more Eminence and even a pre-rola greenback in those cabs (sadly, it had a little tear). I sold/traded everything but the head and one of the Eminence speakers and recouped all of my money! So glad he forced me to buy anything, otherwise I'd probably have paid 150 euros for the amp. I really love the amp, it's an excellent pedal platform and the graphic eq really helped me get some cool sounds out of it.

I bought the Marshall cab completely stripped on the cheaps, no grill cloth, no speakers, no tolex and with an open backpanel, put Jensen Mod 10's in there, bought a grill cloth, had a friend make a closed backpanel (I think that's how they were originally too?) and decided it didn't need tolex. It's been my gigging cab ever since.

Yeah man! Insane, it was even located in the town I live in. I was basically on the hunt for old commanders (the only old Randalls I ever see over here it seems), hoping to at most ever find a IV or one of the heads, but I found the one I wanted the most instead so I was pretty stoked on that. It's not acting too reliable lately though, sometimes I get a really weak, crackling sound out of it but my tech found nothing wrong with it, so if anyone has any suggestions on what that might be, feel free to speak up!

The EQ on the Century is really cool I think, but I don't actually play that one a lot anymore. It did get to go on europe tour with The Body last year and sounded awesome when they used it!

Thats a crazy story!!!! Sounds like you found yourself a winner!! What does the sound compare too, tube HiWatt's have quite a bit of presence and top end so I wonder if it maintains that tone. Sounds like that with the marshall cab would be great for some noisey / clangy crazy tones.

Definitely! It also pumps out quite some bass (I play guitar through it, maybe not so much if you actually use it for bass).

Thanks! Will hopefully be able to try that this weekend! And I definitely owe you bigtime, so if I ever get rid of it I'll let you know (don't get you're hopes up on me getting rid of it though, probably one of the last amps I'd sell if I had to)
