In the USA we just call those "pickles". All other pickled vegetables are not as common.
I did work at a Lebanese restaurant and loved the pickled turnips though.
You can pickle everything and it makes lots of stuff really great! Kraut is basically pickled cabbage. (Well, the process is different, but it's all sour and amazing.)
NSFW bc of huge pic of what I think of when I hear pickles:
Don't like those big jars of kimchi though because they usually get pretty gross towards the end.
I'm just a cereal guy for breakfast. I seriously can't eat any even remotely warm until after I've been up for about three hours. Pain in the arse whenever I want a fry-up but the upside is by the time it's ready I'm starving so it's extra good.
Also breakfast. Sourdough toast Blanched asparagus Poached egg Hollandaise sauce (with a little tarragon in it) Shaved parmesan.
I do that maybe once a month.
Where do you get asparagus in the winter? Don't tell me you eat that stuff from the glass? That is not Asparagus! (Sorry, I'm feeling like Disarm D'arcy now, but this region here is filled with asparagus fields. Knowing the real thing, the canned just doesn't compare.)
(And while I'm at it, the same goes for sardines.)
On a positive note: Nuts are awesome. Especially almonds and pistachios.
Dam! you guys have some inspired breakfasts'. i'm boring. i usually just have a Banana, whole wheat fig bar! Coffee. and and Apple and hour later. veggie omelet with feta and side avocado - on the weekend.
Blue Strat - Jazzmascis - Tele.
Fender - Squier.
Dr. Scientist - Dirge - FuzzHugger - Montreal Assembly - Hypnodrone.

Why would anyone eat canned fruit? I mean can anybody answer that? I can see the can if you’re in the army, but fresh fruit - it’s available, it’s there, it’s 2 aisles over.

We might have to have a real fight now. Sourkraut is delicious, but you best not deminish the glory of the pickle.
