Amazon is way, way, way worse than Prymaxe. Read any of the 10,000 articles about their shitty labor practices. The double-edged sword is that obviously if they are creating and filling jobs, there is a demand for that type of work--but that doesn't mean they should operate how they do. I have definitely attempted to minimize/eliminate my purchases from major online retailers for reasons like that, the environmental impact of all that shipping, etc. Granted, I know one person can't make a difference in these situations, it's just a personal choice.

Back to Prymaxe...I really think something happened to them and all of their shittiness came back to bite them. Mike Hermans left to go to PGS, they lost a bunch of pedal lines, put hundreds of pedals on clearance, don't run constant sales (unless you ask), and are (allegedly) more strict about sticking to manufacturer restrictions. I could be wrong, of course, but it seems weird about Hermans and the clearance thing happening at about the same time.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Yeah I think something happened also as they are definitely are stricter with discounts. I got refused a discount even when asked on a brand that I previously bought on a discount. So, maybe good changes are coming. Maybe too little too late? Time will tell.

As a side note to jwar or a mod... Can you change the title of this thread? It equates sucking balls as a negative thing. I am sure there are gay guys and girls on this board that enjoy sucking balls so let's not make them feel bad about it.

Ok...

Employees of Prymaxe have posted in this thread. Read their posts. Then continue to think Prymaxe are good dudes.
Prymaxe threatened legal action on Tom because he wouldn't continue to sell them his stuff. Legal action didn't eventuate because it was baseless bullshit. But threatening people is cool.
Because Brian posted in this thread and posted what his though, all SS/BS pedals were suddenly in the newly created "clearout" section. Yeah, the customer was winning, you could buy shit at a 30% discount, but it was a petty reaction to Brian's democractic right to express himself. Good business practice Prymaxe.
The second hand market and the new market are two very different markets. I am not getting into the economics of this, but the second hand market has no bearing on Prymaxe pricing nor their relationship to their suppliers, nor Tom's (or anyone else's) profit margins.

Ok but Tom mentioned the relationship between Prymaxe and the used market. And to be clear, I am not saying Prymaxe are good dudes. I am just pointing out discrepancies in peoples morals and logic.

I dropped Prymaxe four months ago. I believe their practices are bad for small builders, and ultimately bad for the customer (by driving down the value--and resale value--of pedals).

That constant 15% seems like a great deal until you go to resell your pedal. That 15% +/- hit you'd normally take? Well add another 15%, if people know they can always get it for 15% off normal price at Prymaxe.

This is a great point. As the owner of a pair of balls who does indeed like to get them sucked, I take no pleasure in considering that it may be degrading to the other party involved, or sucker. As the suckee I would be far more delighted that the act was enjoyed equally by both parties and that any sucking of said balls was undertaken consensually and with enthusiasm.

This is what I like to see. A community coming together, despite its differences, in support of balls.

I'd like to point out that "X is bad, but Y is also bad, and why is no one talking about Y when they're talking about X" amounts to nothing more than a red herring in polite discourse.

I will restate my problems with Prymaxe as a buyer since they are obviously the reason I changed the thread from love to hate.
y
The last several orders I had got from Prymaxe were not package well at all, pedal boxes came damaged, pedals were mangled in a few...etc. They were using envelopes to mail me 400 dollar pedals. That's fucking ridiculous. It takes so little time to go online and order free boxes from USPS, I know because I do it. Note FREE boxes. Packing peanuts cost pennies.

So my last straw was when they sent me a B7K with a completely fucked Darkglass box. I was pissed. Sure the pedal was fine, but the box for the pedal was broken and I was pissed. I emailed Prymaxe, no response, I facebooked them, no response. Finally they responded to my email explaining they now have new shipping methods. Nothing about "sorry we sent your 400 dollar pedal in a envelope and just crossed our fingers".

Then enter the stories from Tom, Brian, Jack, and other Prymaxe has chosen to shaft. Enter them putting all of Tom's and Brian's products on clearance after they requested them to respect their MAP pricing so to no lower the value of their pedals. They don't give a shit about the consumer or the builders. They are a bad company. End of story.

Sure you can get a discount there. That's awesome. You know what though. I've had pedals made for me from Brian, Tom and many other builders and they gave me a discount anyway! Never even had to ask!!! Tom especially is just a kind soul. I mean look at this website. Makes no sense he keeps it open other than he's an awesome dude.

So yea. I'm done with them. I'll admit in a moment of weakness/GAS I did buy my Eventide H9 from them, but I've since stopped all purchases and in fact will go out of my way to not purchase from them. They do not deserve my business and I don't need theirs. They aren't the only game in town.

In other news, I will be running for public office in the state of New Jersey in the upcoming election on the Anti-Prymaxe ticket.

Yeah, that's the effect of new prices on the used market. But it doesn't go the other way. Sorry for not making that clear in my rant. Look at the price of Klons for example. Weird but true: Used Klon KTRs are often more expensive than new Klon KTRs. Go figure.

The biggest thing for me in the Prymaxe thing is that a large part of buying boutique is about the relationship with the builder. Man, half of the SSBS stuff I've bought is second hand, but I still follow Brian's posts and feel something different when playing my Fuck than when playing my Digitech Death Metal (which is irony aside my second favourite distortion of all time). So when the builders who I want to support and have a certain relationship with say "this is fucked" that is a powerful moral argument for me. And given the sense of community that exists at ILF that's why I think it gets pretty heated.

It is like a vegetarian giving a speech about how evil it is to eat meat while wearing their new leather shoes. Or a person who thinks child labor is horrible, and blogs about it on their iPad. People pick and chose the crusades that are convenient for them.

You also better be running a pro-legalization ticket or you won't get elected.

People choose battles they are passionate about and just because they aren't actively fighting against every single thing they disagree with, doesn't diminish their argument. This is a pedal forum so naturally people are going to want to fight against a greedy store that actively harms it's community members rather than taking on Amazon.

Yeah, I completely agree. I notice it all over the internet these days. And more than ever, people seem to get so hostile and angry about their cause. But when you point out someone doing even worse things or the same sort of thing on a broader scale, they don't even want to deal with it. They just want to hone in on one cause, get really indignant, and refuse to consider where it fits in the big picture. It's like there's a switch in people's brains these days, where they can ignore the stuff that is all around them, the evil practices of giant corporations and nations that they buy from every day, as long as they get to channel some hate towards an easy target.

Example? Please? I'd like an example of a similar company to Prymaxe so I can equally hate them. :)
