Jesus. Just went to look something up on TalkBass and ended up reading two pages on why thumb rests are terrible for your technique and why they will ruin your bass entirely by wearing out the frets faster.

I had forgotten what the rest of the world was like. Now I remember that I don't really like it.

it has to be a fiberglass one since the idea behind playing soft is so you don't ever use dynamics and with an all metal horn you risk using dynamics and it might have a thumb rest somewhere

I removed the thumbrest because I didn't like how its extra mass affected the overtones I was getting in the 11kHz range. Really opened up the bass for me. Hope this helps.
Does anyone know where I can buy replacement plastic covers for pickguards? Mine is starting to fray (even though I don't use a pick LOL) and I would like to address that before it becomes a problem. God bless.
