I'm trying to do more with less.... that's why I never regret flipping and I never want to upgrade to a bigger board.....

I'm trying to whittle it down to a digital delay modeler, digital reverb, boss phaser, a few fuzzes and a compressor....

I believe in the same thing, I have a lot of pedals on the side, but on my board, there like only six effects. Its a small board but it gets the job done. Less is cooler.

“Less is more? That’s bollocks. More is more. That’s why it’s called ‘more.’ If it was actually less, it’d be called ‘less.’” - Justin Hawkins, The Darkness.

THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE: SCIENCE.

Srsly, though, for a live board, I keep it relatively simple - 2 - 4 dirt/fuzz/stortion pedals, 1 or 2 modulations, delay, simple verb.

OFF the board, for recording and messing around, that's another question entirely - in that case, hoard 'em, pile 'em up, experiment, go nuts.

As for whether I'm elitist or not, some of my favorite effects and instruments are cheapies. Some of them are fancy boo-teek humdingers. Some of them I probably saw on Donovan't board and instantly lusted after 'em. I just like sound, and whatever sorts of goofy ways I can get sounds I like out of whatever I've got on hand.

I guess I think of it this way. I've seen people do amazing shit with $89 esquire strat copies, and I've seen people do atrocious shit with $3000 guitars....

This is totally true. At the same time, I enjoy both collecting and exploring the noises made by weird little electric boxes. I'd like to think that there's a middle ground.

Frankly, your question insults me.

I think neckthroughs are overrated. They are nice, but they certainly don't make or break a decision for me.

yeah my opinion on this is being an elitist is nothing to do with the gear YOU have, there's nothing 'elitist' about getting the instruments you want, what matters is how you feel about people who use cheaper, "less good" equipment, and whether or not you're happy to jam out on whatever.

Don't look down on other people or gear not filled with tasty lettuces? Congrats, you ain't an elitist prick.

I gravitate towards customized/homemade/weird things. I appreciate the work that goes into finely crafted instruments, too, but if I'm in a guitar store I'll generally be walking past the wall of $1k+ to check out the pink metalflake finish on a Daisy Rock.
I feel like $500 is the border of diminishing returns. On stock, mass-produced guitars, anyway.
I may be a reverse-elitist regarding pedals though, or just cheap, because I think $250 is pushing it in a lot of cases and $300 usually doesn't get a second look.
