There's multiple reasons I do it. The ascension / out of body / stress relief is a large part of it but I also view it as a way of taking what is traditionally one thing and using it to create another more abstract unconventional piece of art. A guitar it's self only produces the sound of the strings vibrating against the frets at certain frequencies, but using it to create these sounds and tones that are so far away from that tone to me is mindblowing, like artists that use crazy mediums or food as paint brushes. Then you get into the looping aspect that allows you to truly and fully ingest that creation, which may never be heard again in the exact same form, its a unique experience that can change your emotional state, and to be able to share that unique feeling with a group of others is to reach an understanding that isn't possible to explain with any human language. It is a universal language, that if done correctly anyone in the world can enjoy, even the deaf.

Wow. I couldn't of said it any better. Right on point!

I once did a headstand against my cab while it was sending out oscillating low-pitched feedback and felt sick for the rest of the day, does that count?

AA nailed it, though. Deeply communicating with others is difficult and it's absolutely fucking magical when you get something going.

This is actually the main reason I want a delay. There's just something so calming about setting everything to max and cranking the amp. Getting lost in that wall of sound is just beautiful.

Tooooootally...

Making and listening to noise/drone chills me the fuck out.

I think white noise is proven to have a calming effect...

I like to listen to drone music on my way home from work, either at the restaurant or the record store. Both have their own level of chaos and it's one of the best ways for me to relax and let the energy I have go so I can really relax at home.
