It's basically accepted as fact that Castaneda just assembled a bunch of philosophies from various religions and claimed it all to be true.....but that aside, he was such a damn enthralling writer that it doesn't matter to me. The way he presented the ideas clicked with me really well.

I enjoyed his books.
Especially the first 2 which a feeling of believability about them.
On a side note but somewhat related…
I’ve talked my kids, nieces and nephews into an October get your buzz on ghost tour.
Figure it will be a lot of fun.
Since there are at least a hundred ghost tours here I’m asking around to find out which is the best one.

I've been pretty into the occult my whole life, probably because I found my dad's Crowley books when I was a little kid and the idea of actually doing magick, from a kids perspective, is pretty awesome. I later discovered that "magick" is actually nothing like I imagined, and was in fact way more gnarly, albeit less flashy and obvious. In a nutshell, the physical world is an illusion and all things, physical and non, are interconnected through time and space, and as such, everything has potential to be influenced by everything else. Consciousness is not merely an emergent property, occurring from the interaction of various physical mechanisms, but the result of the interaction between each human body and the universal consciousness of which we are all a part. Certainly the physical interactions inside all of us are necessary for proper functioning, but we are also receivers of sorts for the transmission of the radio of consciousness. Philosophy precedes science, so science has no business attempting to answer philosophical questions. It has also been my experience that most religion-hating Atheists actually know very little of religion, as Atheism is also a religion. For a logic and reason Atheist, agnosticism would be the most logical and reasonable viewpoint. We don't truly know or understand a thing, and to say otherwise is simply foolish. All we can do, on a physical level, is live the life we think is right. Use what works for you, don't use what doesn't, and appreciate them both.

I believe that science and philosophy are one and the same thing - observing things from different view points; similarly as the spiritual and material aspects are just 2 sides of one coin. Science in-fact can, and will figure those things out, the only "problem" now with science is.. well.. this:
