I have no objection toward being portrayed as a fister in a book.

What about that whole like... health... thing?

Are you defending porn or working out?

lol, I'm saying it's not mentally stimulating, which is what I value. In fact porn is probably better in that regard. Personally, I can't stand working out. I despise it with an absolute passion. I only do so on rare occasion because, in the words of Kevin Spacey in American Beauty, "I just want to look good naked." But as we've determined different people are looking for different things.

So Behnzorz, when you gonna get started on this masterpiece. (that's a statement not a question)

To me "fun" means improving, productive, or challenging. Any other concept of what it could mean I just can't make sense of in my head. So like, working out, reading things that are well written or that have challenging ideas, practicing an instrument, playing a game that is difficult and requires problem solving or intense concentration or planning. All those things I count as "fun". I can't conceive of "fun" in any other terms.

I'm kind of the same way. For me competition is fun. For others, it's competition. I love thought provoking ideas and challenges too. However...

I'm the same here as well. There are times where I need to just shut down and stop thinking. The ability to laugh at nonsense for an hour and a half tends to recharge my batteries, so to speak.

On topic... Just break up the novel into chapters and work on it that way. You can do it! :poke:

sooooo.... i've tried to write before.... and it turns into a jumbled mess. it ends up a weird mash of cyberpunk and adolescent fantasies abut grrLs that wear short short skirts and go commando and the creatures around them that express their sexual frustration at the situation by excreting juices that end up having mind control and moral relaxing properties.... unplanned multi-species orgies ensue that somehow overflow internet based inteerconnectivity leading to artificial beings that are cast somewhat in their creator's image..... so they just fuck and fuck and FUCK AND FUCK AND FUCK.

like i said. a MESS.

Because it's rubbish.

There isn't any sort of benefit that can make me get past it being garbage. It's something that should never have been published, because there shouldn't be anyone willing to read it.

I even consider it a turn off if a girl is reading that kind of nonsense.

Wow dude.... sometimes people just want something fun to read...

I've come across enough situations like this to know that it's me that is the odd one out.

I honestly don't know what people mean when they use words like "fun". I think of a lot of things as "fun", but after countless discussions with people I've realized that I'm not talking about the same thing they are. To me "fun" means improving, productive, or challenging. Any other concept of what it could mean I just can't make sense of in my head. Now, if I met an attractive girl - assuming I was magically single again lol - and she was reading something like Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman, or Riddle-Master (Patricia McKillip) - which I think is just beautifully written - that, is when sex happens, lol. There's nothing sexier than a girl with a sharp mind, a toned body, and good tastes.

Wow man, you're like... so different and smart and stuff....

lol. funniest part about that is imagining Tom Baker (that is the Baker doctor? i'm too lazy to look it up and i loved the show as a kid, but not a huge Who fan lately) being the one with the condescending retort.

NOW TOUCH MY UNWASHED TARDIS. TOUCH. IT.

This sounds amazing. It's very...um... Heavy Metal, like the magazine. You should write it and submit it. Maybe get someone to draw it...

My 2 cents on 50 Shades is that the average woman (a broad term, I know) wants to have two opposite things. One one hand, they want to be respected for their personality and intellect, but on the other hand (like moooost people) they are also normal human beings who get turned on by a myriad of weird shit. Dr. Kinsey (I think?) was one of the first to "expose" (sorry for the pun) the fact that while most people in America portray certain things as "normal sexuality," what most people [i]really[i] do is a lot more...colorful. This should be a no-brainer for us. Middle-aged women probably read this crap because it makes them feel naughty or something but at the same time they can turn around to their husbands and say "but it's a best seller, blah blah blah." In essence, phenomena like 50 Shades allow these people to feel dirty (which everyone knows is more exciting....) without as much public shame or whatever. Same as the whole Twilight thing; take something that originated as a violent, scary, and sexual idea (vampires) and make it all shiny so that the average picket-fence American can enjoy it and idolize it without appearing "evil" or fucked up to their peers.

And it has been shown that cardiovascular exercise increases the growth of capillaries and blood flow in the brain. Plus endorphins are fun.
