Quoting cause it's sound advice. Watching my father figure slowly rot away to cancer for over a year was the worst period of my life. Seeing family members breakdown because they didn't take care of themselves managed to make it worse. Especially on the old man as he had to watch it, knowing he was the cause, but unable to do a thing about it. Balance is ridiculously hard in these situations but find strength, support and even joy from your wife and kids and wherever you can (like flipping pedals if need be).
