1 part dried (yellow) peas
4 parts potato

So much for not eating loads of stodgy carbs, eh, Scruffie?

Haha i'm not saying I don't enjoy them! Anything with peas and pearl barley gets my vote.

I must buy some pearl barley and attempt that and some other soup recipes.

Yeah, it's actually not too bad and it's really cheap to make. I used to make a big pot of the stuff and eat it all week. You can add some more stuff to the recipe to make it more palatable. (Hot sauce always helps.)

I used to always make soup for the week, really need to get back in to it.. need to buy a bigger pan first though and have my oven fixed/replaced which I can't afford at the moment.

Roast Butternut Squash Soup with Onions, Garlic & Ginger and Creme Fraiche if you fancy or goats cheese = epic.

Mint & Pea has gotta be one of the quickiest and easiest too... fuck I want soup now.

I lived on one of those every meal for months once. A week worth of meals costs under like $10.

Or I could buy some pedals from you if you're looking to sell anything :)

We don't get Ramen noodles here, i've always been intrigued by them...

I can make food out of what I have, quite nice food in fact (quite a thrifty cook) it's all just very involved so I wasn't really having it for breakfast or anything due to the time it would take then I was out of energy and it was a vicious circle, plus I had to be careful not to run out entirely. Obviously there is cheap food but cheap food is only available if you actually have change, which I did not and I ran out of basics like onions etc. I can make dirt cheap meals but when you buy in small quantities the price goes up.

You can buy baked beans for like... 15p a can and they're reasonably nutritious and pretty tasty, but I loves me some fresh food, I actually feel run down if I just have a load of carby stodge.

I'll survive, I just got knocked by £1000 of bills in the course of 3 days, just gunna take a little while to get back on track. S'cool now anyway, I made a bit of cash and got some foods.

I've had that Reverb for sale for evaaar, buy that haha.

:) Thanks for the offer but i'll make it through, don't wanna be in debt.

Any way, this is the happiness thread, not complaining! Urmm... good things... Tea! I have tea, tastin' pretty good right now....

Never said you'd owe me, that's not how i work.

Anyhow, you know where to find me.

And yes, tea. Tea is great.

Soup is fun,...I'm going to have to look into that Mint and Pea,...sounds yummy.

Boil a few apples and puree them up with your butternut squash. :thumb:

Carrot Ginger is also good.

I'm a huge fan of Shepard's Pie,...but sourcing good ground lamb is difficult around here so I just use ground beef. It's basically Beef Stew made in a skillet with a layer of Mashed Potatoes on top then baked. I've made this a few times to entertain friends. One I made in a 6qt Dutch Oven and fed about 10 people that came over to help me split wood and it was gone. The I made one in A 12inch Skillet,...fed four people,...scarfed....

That shit's fucking good

+1 shepherd's pie is the shit...
I like brunswick stew and white bean chili with chicken.
Or chicken and dumplings. It has to be a huge dumpling though, not that crouton-sized shit.
