this quote, and subsequent responses, got me wondering what you crazy fucks thought about violence. and i didn't feel like diggin through that genderless kid thread anymore, so i figured i'd start a new discussion.
i used to box, and i still love watching combat sports of any kind - boxing, mma, wrestling, jiu jitsu, judo, etc, etc, etc.
i'm also a christian, which only serves to complicate my feelings on the matter.
i absolutely love the rush of being in fights. i don't even feel the hits until the next day (when i can't even roll out of bed). something about giving as good as you get appeals to me in a rather intense way.
i don't think violence for no reason is right. and i think violence for the wrong reason is inexcusable (i.e., physically assaulting someone due to differences in beliefs or racial background). but for some twisted reason, i can't help but feel like if two people, regardless of gender, are at a relatively inconsequential impasse, why not duke it out for a little?
obviously there are a hell of a lot more arguments against that then there are for it. but i know what i think, and i know that probably won't change any time soon. so i wanted to know what you guys thought.
i shall leave y'all with one of my favorite quotes:
renzo gracie wrote:(people) see fighting as an ugly thing; as a thing that denigrates the human being. in reality, i see fighting in everything... everything's fighting. doesn't matter what it is. you wake up in the morning, to get out of bed is a fight. believe it. so fighting is actually the best thing a man can have in his soul.
