I actually almost bought a Ricky locally. An old lady was selling her deceased husband's 70's 4001 (a white one) for like $150 (Steal of the fucking century). That shit went quick!!!! I emailed her and never got a response so I'm assuming that someone was on it like stink on a dog's ass.

Speaking of Paul d'Amour's rig,...I'd love to have me an old Ovation Magnum....

There is just something appealing about these funky old basses. I know Paul had and used one for a bit; or at least I think he did.

Yeah, he was using a 400+, so I'm sure that contributed to the beefy tone. The Magnum is a fucking pretty bass. Paul used it only on their first couple runs of shows, but he did cut the live tracks on Opiate with it.

Neither could I.... I am going to have to piece this together over time.... what I got cost $800 and it just about maxed out my card :grumpy:

I played one of those once, it was okay, the giant bridge is cool oyu can slide in mutes to get that cool old 60's bass tone, kind of a cool bass because ovation is none for it's acoustic-electric guitars.

Every time I go on that site I am overwhelmed by how much is there and how almost none of it interests me. I thought since you guys were making such a big deal about it on another forum that it would be more entertaining  Even when I tried to cause trouble everyone tried to enlighten me and told me to be helpful or use their helpfulness in a helpful way, now I guess that would be helpful but I don't really have the attention span for that anymore. I have never been able to get much from people talking about technique on line as I feel real world experiences are better, or even books/actual learning sites. The problem with forums for this is someone says something someone else argues so you sit there reading and if you don't have your own knowledge/experiences you would be in perplexment.

And really talking about basses and amps is boring, everyone knows already the P basses rule and all else is heresy

I think in my sort tenure there I've seen what it is to see and really I'd rather waste my time watching old horror films, making dark noisy sounds and using the net for what it there for, amusement :snax:

OT and FX are the only interesting forums on TB and really the PYPB threads are the only interesting ones on TB and they are only interesting because behndy is the one that carries it.

Lulz at P basses.

I keed...I'd rock a P-Flats, into an SVT or 400+ Driving 1 or 2 8x10s (will those amps run down to 2 ohms?)

I think there is an atheist bassist club somewhere on there.

It's sorta of a microcosm of how TB works. I think there were a few prior attempts before it stuck and the P&W guys got all defensive and offended cause those attempts to fail.

I could be wrong because as much as I despise monotheism I try not to get caught up in that shit. I just seem to remember catching that in an anecdotal fashion.

I don't like Judeo/Christian/Perpetrators of Pagan Genocide Religions,...but I hate division and factionalization more.

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f28/athei ... dex48.html

I found the closed part one thread of the Atheists BP club but for some reason can't access the 2nd part (Mods shut down threads at ~1000 posts).

warwick.hoy, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1 Your account may be pending activation, if you have just registered please check your email for instructions.
2 Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
3 If you're trying to post a CLASSIFIED AD, note that a Supporting Membership is required to do so

Maybe it got moved to the lobby which you need a supporting membership in order to access (another reason TB is BS,...If I were working I could justify ponying up the $20 but it's not in the budget right now. Thus I can't have an avatar,...I only get 100 pm's which sucks cause I actually do a lot of communication and networking via TB, I think those dudes make plenty of $$ off of adverts). (found it in the lobby: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f28/athei ... te-542521/

At any rate you go on there and it would appear that religious whackos have no problem trolling the atheists but get all but hurt if you do the same to them. :idk:

Hypocrites; but I think a lot of boils down to fear. People are condition to be afraid of people who aren't exactly like them and it's pissing me off.

I agree. But I also feel it it a waste of time arguing with people that are already fixed on their point of view. Really I fall into the "well it could be anything really" camp  But I find some ideas more fun then others ;)

i.... am in a quandry. there's a few people over there i have mad love for. but MOST of them are over here. and really, i'd way rather post where i can explicitly talk about which groove or crevise in my nutsack gives me the most inspiration when i'm trying to figure out a part instead of pussy footing around their censor system and easily offended dinks. heh. ballz. PUSSY FOOT.

Pussy Foot vs Ballz is an awesome band name. or anything involving ShuttleCOCK.

but there are some cats that i like that stay over there (my name is MUD is the big one), and as awesome fire as ILF is, for somebody with a delicious combination of ADD and OCD like me, waiting a day or two between threads getting posted to here BURNS. if i'm gaming or writing or some bullshit and need something to distract my brain meats with for a minute or two, the threads on TB i DO pay attention to are re-upped every 3 or 4 hours.

and there's maybe 95% douchey judgemental knowitall douches of douches on there, the 5% left over have helped me out in weird and neat ways. i like both sites. i ENJOY over here more, and god DAMN i want to kick idiots in the throat when they start dropping guitard and shit. you KNOW that's somebody that is so shitty nobody else on any instrument WANTS to play with them. and i haven't played with a guitar player in like 8 years.

Honestly, almost everyone I've dealt with directly on talkbass has been really cool.

... but that's probably because they were buying a Fuzz pedal from me, which instantly means they're cooler than most.
