It looks like CBread is getting back on track. I'm curious who is designing their stuff, since it appears Howard hasn't returned. They could've contracted one of the other Portland engineers to do something like an FV-1 reverb. :idk:

We are stoked to announce that Tom Keithly has taken the reins as shop manager. It is a move that made a lot of sense, as Tom has always had a great relationship with Catalinbread from his days at Tone Report. Here’s to 2019 — big things coming!

is it just me, or do EQD's new releases seem less and less useful as the years go by?

Plumes (dirt or multi-mode delay/glitch)

Astral Destiny (phaser or weird delay)

Xrax (still thinking DSP ring mod)
Well that shoots my "Astral Path" concept in the foot

I'm happier with their output than most of the industry. People expect companies like EQD, Chase Bliss, Meris, Hologram to release revolutions not utility items. The more creative brands/people are always judged more critically than others, so it's natural to feel an initial letdown when they don't reinvent themselves at each turn.

They haven't added MIDI or expanded presets yet (Pyramids has 5), so in a sense they're not at the front of the pack. In that regard, there is room for advancement. At the same time, the last couple years of EQD has been good to me (got Pyramids x2, a Space Spiral, Aqueduct to go with about 15 previous pedals). If they embraced bigger boxes and a more powerful platform, that'd be a welcome change for me. However, the control terminology/features don't really support a shared enclosure----like putting a Transmisser, Afterneath, and other algos into a big box would mean there'd be a lot of 'value 1' or 'value 3' pots.

They make higher quality pedals that they used to and everything they release sounds great, so I don't know :idk:

WMD has launched a new site for the Metron sequencer (previewed in 2017). It features an interactive guide. Pre-orders are now open, and it's expected to start shipping shortly after NAMM.
METRON ships with an SD card included. The SD card is for saving all sequencer settings, projects, and states as well as for firmware updates down the road.

Swedish synthesist and developer Peter Allwin announced today that he’s released a port of some of the Mutable Instruments Plaits oscillators for the Korg Prologue.
http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2019/ ... ts-plaits/

-------

This was shared last year, but there wasn't a whole lot to go on. Here's an update:
Propellerhead Software today announced a partnership with MIND Music Labs, to help software developers turn their Rack Extension virtual instruments and effects into hardware.

At the 2018 NAMM Show, MIND Music Labs has introduced ELK – an ultra-low latency operating system for musical instruments that they describe as “the Android of musical instruments”. And, in late 2018, they announced plans to bring VSTs to the platform.

Now, they’re working with Propellerhead to create a way to turn Rack Extensions into hardware synthesizers and effects, based on widely available ARM & X86 processors.

i dunno, it seems to me that they do a lot of redundant or overly esoteric stuff. but then, i'm not a bit-crusher/tone-mangler guy and don't see the need for that many different flavors of reverb. maybe i'm just a basic white bitch?

Plumes sounds Close to both the Bows and Arrows booster. So I'm guessing dirt/multi boost.

Astral Destiny sounds out there, maybe they are jumping on the dsp glitch bandwagon.

So, the thing is called Volante and there's a bigger pic of it on the home page, but still not revealing too much. Looking more Echorec-y though.
