Maybe kind of like the Irish girl's name Saoirse.UglyCasanova wrote:Søren:

Ø as in Early, but move the back of your tounge, which is not close to the velar position more towards the hard palate and slightly lower your tounge to the middle of your mouth.
R as in....oh fuck. I'm not sure you have this r-sound in the American accent. The tounge is in the alveolar position rather than retroflex. Start with an American r and slightly sharpen your tounge and place the tounge tip close to the back of your teeth and apply the same amount of air.
EN as in men
When I transitioned I had to pick my own name. That was a curious sort of situation. I had been named after my father. I was tempted to keep the same first initial but couldn't find anything that fit. I wanted to avoid trendy names but apparently parents started using similar variations of what I chose at around the same time. Now I go to all these kids events with my daughter and I always hear parents calling my name.Iommic Pope wrote:For the record i hate my name.
If I was a different sort I would have chosen something unpronouncably gaelic.
If you meet a guy born before 2000 named a variation of Aiden, he's probably trans.Achtane wrote:Go full Pinterest.

So many parents ignore this one to their peril. It seems like people started getting weird about spellings in the eighties and now I meet a lot of adults with goofy names. I always cringe a bit when I realize.PeteeBee wrote:3) has to not be embarrassing for their professional life.

My daughter's name is Illyana. Most of the other names I liked were all Irish names, but I wanted to spell them the traditional way, which more or less took them off the table for my wife. I liked Niamh, Aisling, and Saoirse. We also liked Maura, but it didn't flow well with my surname (Roe). I couldn't really find any boys' names I liked.

One of my colleagues gave his son the middle name "Danger", just so when he's older he can say to people that Danger is his middle name... I have a feeling he might regret doing this in about 15 years time!

Mhmm. Not that this should veer off into unusual names (ok yeah let's do that), but I just met a kid named Ransom today, and my daughter befriended someone named Moxie at the playground. Invisible Woman worked as a contractor in public schools in Buffalo for years...she worked with twins named Greg and Gregory...and someone named Achilles Heel.

Re: Naming Duh Fuzzbabies
One of my friends talked for years about giving his kid the first name Cap'n. I think his first and middle name would have been Cap'n Laserbear.
He had a girl though and somehow convinced the mom to let him name the kid Mary Jane.
