Re: Good Cartoons for Kids
My nieces are really into Avatar: The Last Airbender right now which is cool because I can sit and watch it without wanting to paint the walls with my skull.

I put a bunch of Mister Wizard and more Muppet Show on my daughter's tablet. Also, How Stuff Gets Made. She never likes cartoon shows but she's still into Ponyo and Song of the Sea.
My wife is worried she won't be able to relate to her peers.
She's never watched anything Disney yet she can identify Mickey Mouse on a bootleg pinata across the restaurant.

^^^
We picked up Watership Down on VHS a few years ago. Kid was creeped out by the rabbits.
She and I watched Over the Garden Wall again today all the way through. First time watching since it first aired. We both liked it way more the second time around.

My daughter and I watch a lot of Adventure Time. We even have discussions about the episode after we watch it.

Re: Good Cartoons for Kids
^^ Tried to get the kid to watch Danger Mouse since I loved it as a kid. She was utterly disgusted that I would force her to watch such a show. She did however love Go Go Gophers and wait til your father gets home. Both of which are not the most..um..racially sensitive shows. We only got about two or three episodes into Wait before we decided it may not be appropriate for an 8 year old.

Yeah. I also enjoyed it as a kid, but several years back I was given the DVD box set and got to revisit as an adult. It's a unique toon, fo sho.Aquietcabin1978 wrote:^^ Tried to get the kid to watch Danger Mouse since I loved it as a kid. She was utterly disgusted that I would force her to watch such a show. Great aesthetic, very angular and isometric in depth perspective shots...it's cool to look at in spite of the crude animation.
The characters/voice actor performances are outstanding as is the sound/music. But I can still understand why an 8year old girl may hate it
But when I was 5-7 it was up there with my favs like Thundercats.

Oh man I have tried to get her into Thundercats, Silverhawks, Jace and the Wheeled Warriors, Go-Bots, Super Ted, MASK, Centurions, Bravestar, and others for the era I can't remember. Did she ever hate them all. She did like Duck Tales and Heathcliff though.

Everyone likes Duck Tales & Heathcliff. Also Inspector Gadget & Rescue Rangers.
Her not bonding with the other stuff...I kinda get it. But she doesn't like Animaniacs?

Oh yeah. We went through a. If Animaniqcs phase. She is a huge nerd for TMBG so we watched a whole lot of that one episode with the Istanbul video. She was probably around five.
