Rewatching this. On episode 1 of Season 2. Incredible acting and dialogue. Alma Garret laying on the bed with a bit of armpit hair after her and Bullock had done did the business: Hot.

Re: Deadwood
Deadwood disappointed me. I stopped watching it at one point because despite the acting, I just thought it was fucking boring as hell. Should I stick it out? Is it worth it?

Re: Deadwood
Been a while since I watched it so I don't really remember that well. It definitely picks up a bit. But don't count on it being that much different from what you're already experiencing.
Best advice I can give: watch it when you actually feel like watching it. I tried forcing myself to watch it a bunch of times just cause I had been meaning to do so and had run out of other shit to watch. But each time I gave up after the first or 2nd or 3rd episode cause I just got hella bored. Then one day I just felt like watching a serious Western show, and watching through it was effortless. Because it was like that, I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a worthwhile show - but wait till the right mood strikes you before giving it another shot.

Re: Deadwood
I should clarify where I'm at. I was mid way through season 3 when I stopped watching. I just couldn't believe that despite the murders, prostitution and general tom foolery, that in my eyes it was one of the most boring shows I've ever watched. I really want to love it. It's well acted, the cast is great, the production is great, but it's just lacking something. It almost seems like theirs nothing there if that makes sense. Like it was made to entertain, but it falls short of being actually entertaining. The pacing on it irritates me I think. Something happens, but you feel indifferent because of how slow it happens or how far away you could see it coming.
Maybe I'm being overly critical. I've loved almost every HBO show I've ever watched too.

Oh yeah if you made it up to midway through the last season then it's prob just not your cup of tea. That said, since you're nearly at the finish line, you may as well see it through. If only to see the best tv fist-fight of all time.

Another proof that Jwar has no soul.
I'm pretty sure he blocked me so he won't see that post, hence the gratuitous jab.

Nah I unblocked everyone man. I figured there's no sense in that and it's kind of immature you know? So what if we squabble from time to time. That's what ILF is all about. Pissing on each other and getting back to the love.oscillateur wrote:Another proof that Jwar has no soul.

I dug Deadwood for what it is, it's just not one of my favorites. Al is my favorite character in it though...not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Re: Deadwood
I mean he's far and away the best main character in modern television drama, so it's a good thing.

Swearengen is a fantastic character but there are so many others and amazing acting. The doc being one of them. I understand how people could not get it or like it as the dialogue is dense.
Oh, and Charlie Utter. Talking to the departed Wild Bill at the cemetery.
