Gear that was the hardest to sell (emotionally)

What gear or specifically pedals were the hardest to let go?

My car fucked up in transit today and I am going to have to let go of some of my favorite pedals and maybe one of my Fender SF's

I used to have four electric guitars, and I had to sell three of them to pay rent/groceries. They were all cool as hell and I miss them all the time. What I hate most is that, if I had been financially stable, I could have used that cash to buy a Dream Guitar™. Now that money is just gone, having paid for extraneous bullshit like "food" and "shelter."

What a waste.

I've never regretted selling a pedal though, they're just fun toys to me and easy to get back.

the one thing it really hurt to sell was my Blueridge BG-160 acoustic, a WONDERFUL spruce/rosewood slope-shoulder in the style of a Gibson J-45 but with banjo-style fretboard inlays. the pedal i was saddest to sell was the Truly Beautiful Disaster which i just bought back from the shop i sold it to for $25 more than they paid me...it was particularly painful since i'd finally figured it out after months of fooling around. the pedal i wish i'd have handled differently was the scripty Phase 100--so old that the circuit was solder traces on particle board!--which i took to the buy/sell when i was desperate for cash and got killed on the price...if i'd had more time i'd have been able to sell it for $200-250.

my basic rule is that if i can get a decent price and i can live without it, i can sell it. but i try not to sell anything i really use unless it's duplicative to some extent of something else. for example, i could sell one of my Strats because i have another, and sold my Epiphone Les Paul Custom because the Tokai Love Rock is a nicer guitar with humbuckers and i also have the Epiphone MIK SG with buckers. and i was REALLY sorry to sell my pedal steel, but i never played it and got $1000 for it.

and don't sell anything you can't replace! the guitars i wouldn't let go of under any circumstances are my two Tokais, which are rare in the States, and the Eastman 000, the latter of which is a one-in-a-million guitar, the only 000 i liked in three or four years of testing.

I know the option isn't always on the table but I try and ONLY sell currently available/replaceable stuff.

Yea, I'm going to be unloading my mellowtone collection as well as 2/3 of my Corrigan'd pedals. The Corrigan's are irreplaceable in a sense, they are both 1 off's but also the only things that will ensure I can afford everything >_<

I sold a gorgeous mid-90s German-made Warwick Thumb NT5 that I had lusted over for decades, so that I could pay for basement renovations to my house. That ached a little bit...or shall I say, it still does, that was pretty recent.

To get the Warwick, I sold/traded a 1991 EBMM SR5 that I had for 20 years and recorded and gigged with. That ached a little too, but at least I was getting the Warwick for it. Now, it aches a little more, but it would have had to get sold anyway too.

I won't even get started on amps and pedals. Too many sad stories there. Chandler Tube Driver, TC SCF, pre-Fender SWRs...

Been thinking about this lately, I have really regretted selling a LOT of the pedals in the last 3 years or so. I have cycled through probably 50 or so boxes and only have kept a hand full of them. Never again.

Rainbow Machine that my wife got me; I had no good reason to sell it other than gas.

When I played in my early 20's late teens I had an Music Man American 5 string with a rosewood neck and peril pick guard. I sold it so I could pay a part of the massive amount of credit card debt that I had racked up living with my retched ex at the time. Was the worst years of my life.

Yea man, I think so, all except for my CC/DC. TBH I was holding on to them/hoarding in hopes of getting in touch with eric and seeing if I could build the circuits to keep them alive or w/e but that just seems silly now, and my attempts of contact were futile.
