Say you're in a terrible car accident and you lose the use of your legs. Would you rather be a paraplegic or a double amputee?

does amputee include the possibility of using artificial limbs?

Sure
I was just wondering which would be worse, not being able to use your legs and still having them; or simply losing your legs. I think I'd go with amputee. It seems like you could have more fun at the jungle gym and go rock climbing easier.

I think I would rather not have them? unless removing them would be painful/expensive. I don't see the point otherwise

Re: The what ever thread...
If yous get paraplegic, there's a chance your winky won't work!
I wonder if it feels a bit claustrophobic to have that kind of dead weight, but then again there's stuff like balance and symmetry. Some people probably want to look symmetrical. I'd rather have robot legs.
Would you trade your hooman legs for robot legs that were perhaps a bit more unwieldy in everyday situations (i.e. making you walk like a nazi) but could do stuff like expertly cushion you from high drops or jump really high, or kick stuff with robot power and have a cupholder? That's a tough one.

An even more interesting question: If scientists could put your brain into a robot body and you could live the rest of your life controlling that robo-body, would you do it? You could have whatever add-ons to your robot that you want: jetpack, wheels, extra arms, etc...Achtane wrote:Hell yeah, so worth it.basti moon wrote:Would you trade your hooman legs for robot legs that were perhaps a bit more unwieldy in everyday situations (i.e. making you walk like a nazi) but could do stuff like expertly cushion you from high drops or jump really high, or kick stuff with robot power and have a cupholder?
