You do have a valid point..... it blew my mind the first time I saw BS. One the albums you never really here what Geezer is doing, then you see them live and your jaw drops.... Dude is all over the place and faster then most death metal bassists with a pick.

Reading tony iommi's book"iron man", losing respect slowly but surely.

Not because of what he writes but because the chapters are 1-3 pages SHORT, it's like it was written or told by a teenager. I hope the guy who wrote it for him is at fault.

so...i have that book...and luckily, I have a signed copy...I even shook his hand!!!...unfortunately, none of his skills transferred to my hand...

Iommic, I got my last bunch of cable ends from amazon, was the best price I found at the time. Cables, I recycle old ones. Most of the parts for the looper I got from mammoth.

Edit: I'm sure there are lots of guys here who have a better grasp on where to get the best combo of cost/quality

Off topic but Kiss played in Toronto last year and I wanted to go because I love them, but I was scared that it was going to suck.
After watching the movie Detroit Rock City millions of times, my expectations for that band are no less then when they played at the end of the movie. IT WAS SO BAD ASS.

It scares me when older bands do reunions.

What drew me into Sabbath was when a guy came up to me in 8th grade Social Studies class and gave me a tape of Black Sabbath's first two albums on it and said "You have a drumset. You are going to be in my band or I will stab you in the neck with a pencil." I took it home and listened to it and fell in love with Bill Ward's drumming. Huge impact on me and as much as I love Iommi and Geezer's riffing, fuck them. It ain't Sabbath without Bill Ward holding it down.

Alright, you dudes seem like the right guys to ask about this.

I saw KWC last night, it was the first time I had heard of them, and they were awesome. What genre are they considered to fall under? Any recommendations for other bands like them? I tend to lurk in these doom threads, and I always like the videos that get posted and stuff. Lead me, dudes.

Noise rock I guess? One of my favorite bands currently. There have already been plenty of good recommendations - so I won't get into those other than to second Whores.

I agree with the 200 dollars of pups in the 100 dollar guitar thing. When I plan build for someone/myself I automatically use locking tuners, BKP pups and hipshot gear, high gradepots/caps and the like so down the road nothing will need to be "swapped out" Yeah it costs more upfront, but its already finished! Good wood is key too, the one im working on right now had a 500 dollar top that was harvested from a bog after 30,000 years of sludgy solitude. Doom creds if ive ever seen em hahhaa

also, thought of you yesterday when we were changing out our latest batch of mead. it's only a month old and it was the first carboy change, but it's already sooo good and it measures at over 16% alcohol already! woohoo! it's a crazy concoction. it has orange, ginger, rosemary, clove, cinnamon, and juniper berries. it was a risky undertaking with all that stuff, but it's turning out great. some of the flavors need to mellow out, but they will over the next six months. our last batch was the best i've ever made, or been involved with making. it was wild huckleberries that me and the lady harvested camping late last summer, supplemented with some blueberries. it's very boozy, pretty dry and fucking delicious. i have high hopes for this batch.

I really want to try making mead. I will hopefully stop being lazy and get a Maibock and maybe a Black IPA going for the spring/early summer.

Slightly bummed Ward won't be with them. After reading Ozzy's book, it seems like Bill always got shit on. Either way I'll still do my best to go see them.

I'm with you on this Conky. If those other guys can't step up in the face of the mighty SHARON on behalf of their boy then fuck 'em. There's way more to being a band than playing good and being famous. Plus I'll always have this:

I have a question: For personal amusement more than anything else, I was considering whether it was possible to grab a 4x12 and convert it into a 2x15 by building a new front panel and changing the wiring.

Anyone done anything similar?

I think these electric cabs are the same size as a 4x12.

I though about doing this with an orange ppc412 cab, but the baffle is screwed in from the front, and it would be a real PIA.
but if you do, let us know! maybe a matamp cab would be build differently and easier to change.

BUT if you are a good player/good at turning knobs you can really make stuff work for you in ways you wouldnt think. I say this because right now im using a ENGL Fireball 100 which is the nastiest metal amp around right now, im boosting it with a maxon od808. AM I playing djent or death metal?

I got a MXR Custom Comp to add to my rig as a pedal that would always be on...i have to say...the compression thing is really underwhelming! maybe i was expecting too much change to my tone and its not really doing that...or maybe i need to play with the controls a lot more...but i played with it for about 30mins last night and can't say it blew me away.

I can hear it working...and i can definitely hear the extra noise too...but, not sure if i like what i hear compared to when its off...i know Matt Pike had this on his board for a while and there other bands that i really like who use comps too (YOB)...wondering how they use it...does anyone here use one?

You have to give them time and play around with them for a while. The first time you play a compressor you always hates them. It's kind of like an unwritten rule.
