What kind of pedal settings do you use on that muff/rat combo? Which one is boosting the other?

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
When I think of OR120 tones, I think of Giant Squid and a Big Muff boosting the front end. To avoid vintage prices and reliability issues, check out ARC Effects, Wren and Cuff, Black Arts Toneworks, Stomp Under Foot, and Skreddy for a variety of price ranges, sizes, and tones.sergiomunoz74 wrote:Hey guys, I've been lurking on this for a while! I have an OR120 that I run through a rat, it sounds good but I was wondering what else do you guys stack with a rat? I'm thinking of getting an OCD or something cool to get that rad fuzzed out tone from my OR. Any advice from other 120 owners?
Welcome to the new and improved Doom Room, TJ! Cab is looking nice. Love the nail motif on the front edges. The Wood Wizard wrote:Speaking of purple!!!
I finally finished this damn thing, with lil help from Nick and...its purple....
With my doom train on top. Still need to make the matching headshell, too damn cold right now...
They work both ways, it just depends on whether you want to thin out a Big Muff or 'puffy up' a RAT.black mess wrote:What kind of pedal settings do you use on that muff/rat combo? Which one is boosting the other?
I'm not too familiar with Ufomammut, so I can't recommend anything of similar ilk.dubkitty wrote:excuse my noob-itude, but what's the function of the sub mic? to get more bass?
also in noob mode, i don't really know much about teh doomz, but really enjoyed the Ufomammut clip. could folks recommend similar stuff for me to check out? n.b. i don't really care for screaming death-metal vocals.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I thought a muff wouldn't work with the rat or it would work strangely because I had a musket fuzz that I sold off because it was kinda "off" sounding I guess when I had the OR120 at the point of break up running through a rat/musket. Maybe I didn't level out the gain/fuzz properly? because I also have ep booster running always on. Maybe I'll find a simple russian muff clone. I always heard they didn't stack well with anything, but I guess it's worth a try.
Edit: found some cheap used black box russian muff, should I get that or just call it a day and save up for the pricier clones?

Have folks noticed that Guild have reintroduced their S-100 guitar? I've always loved the way they looked, like a retro SG. The price is right as well at around €800/$1200.
Here is a video of it playing an old Soundgarden tune:

I have a rat clone running into a civil war muff on my board right now. I haven't used them together much but as of right now I have it set up with the rat into the muff. I mainly use the muff for lead lines while the rat is for ripping chords.

Woah that is a fucking thick tone. I think I like that allot better. How did you have em set up? The thing is I like the idea of doing the OCD/rat more than rat/muff because the muff will never get used when I'm not playing the heavies while I can use the OCD when I'm playing lighter crap.
Was the clone of the OCD based on the V4?

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
OCD is just a Madbeans clone, go to their website and check the scheme. RAT is a GGG clone with the stock circuit from GGG. Pretty much the OCD is for boosting into the Rat with only a small amount of gain, tone adjusted to taste. The RAT is setup for medium gain, again Filter to taste. You match their volumes when they are separately on and when they are on together it is all good then.
I sold that dual pedal off already but I miss it so I will probably build another one.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
My current favorite ripping practice tone is OCD into Naga Viper into this radical old Lafayette bass amp.
When I ran an OR120 in the earliest days of AW all I did was leave the FAC low and turn everything else all the way up. No pedal required!

I think I'm going to cop myself a used OCD and see how that goes if not I probably won't lose much in it's place. It sounds really awesome and I'm selling some stuff off anyway.
