So far it's OK. The neck Wide-Range humbucker, no matter how I tweak it, still sounds dull on the low strings and bright on the high strings. The bridge pickup, even though it's supposed to be more fat and less twangy, still sounds too twangy for me. Which makes me think that I shouldn't have bought a Telecaster. I'm also finding the lack of a tummy cutaway uncomfortable. Compared to the Ibanez Artist, it's very square and cornered. The neck is not great either. I prefer the Les Paul neck by a long-shot. I'm not sure what to do, really. I hate selling guitars in Ireland; no one ever bites and when they do they offer shit as trade or low-ball me.

The Mastery is truly a feat of engineering beauty... Too bad they don't fit in CP Jazzmasters...

Im honestly considering buying a Mastery for my Jaguar just because of how awesome it made my Jazzmaster sound. So rich and full of energy. My Jaguar doesn't even NEED one, it's a Blacktop not a traditional, but goddamn I miss it.

I love how Ron has that big ass board but only two little pedals. The Dunwich looks sick all glowing with the fancy plexi front. I'm sure it sounded even better than it looked tho...


Also, Danny, that sucks man. I hate being let down by guitars. I'm just not much of a Tele guy myself. They look badass but I've never had one I kept around. I did love that my old '72 custom had the stomach cutaway tho, so much more comfy than that straight hard edge digging in. Also loved the neck but that's where the romance ended sadly. Sold it.

He used to have a massive wah style phaser like the size of a morley power wah but since has dropped it because he doesnt dig it. Also he used to have a meathead and a 1 knob booster I built him, now reduced that all down to the 1 fuzz you see there and the tuner. Sound was killer, amp was all clean then everything else was the fuzz

Neurolux?

That's the idea! I lived in Boise for 15 years and Neurolux was always the spot. I've got old buddies who still work there and the owner was a bit of a competitor of mine when I had this skateshop at 10th and Main. At the time half of the Neurolux was this hipster clothing shop called retrospect. Anyhow, I got history there. This other place called VAC (you probably know more than I do) is owned by another old buddy and he of course wants us over there too. But that's like Garden City or something isn't it? I haven't been 'home' since '06.

So what got you guys into Doom/stoner/downtempo music?

I went to buy a sack of weed off Zeke's tour manager at the time (97ish). He played Fu Manchu and it was just on. In about '99 I was fixing this chick's computer and she put on Come My Fanatics. That was a mind blower too.

D! Glad you made it over sir. What the latest on the Ape Blaster? It's cool that you dig the Lab Series - those were really popular with blooze and jazz guys. BB King still plays an L3 I believe. And that song is super rad.

Oh yeah, best part about the L4: ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I am in line at the metal fab joint. He's got a run of Verellen pedals to complete before he specs my boxes and shoots me a quote. From what Ben says I'll be happy with this quote and of course if he's right then we're moving right along. THis place will finish (grind corners etc) the bare boxes, powder coat, screen print and drill. I'm going to do my own drilling for these but it's nice to know I can pass the buck once I have more bread.

I was there when it was handed to him. He got that thing at the venue and then just plugged it in and blew faces. Amazing! Brent Monson is another cool man about town up here but his design aesthetic does not float my boat.

Also I just wanna show off this Bronco. I traded a Vibro Champ for it and I just fucking love it. I even love looking at it when I'm not playing it. The red is captivating.

Good to hear that your moving forward with the Apes. That might be the last pedal I ever buy as I want to build more of what I use, tone on that thing is SO GOOD.

I Always was into metal, loved sabbath and all the early bands. Every band I was in always was faster/heavyer/moar but when I'd sit around just noodling I'd play slower shit, just get off on letting a note ring out, feedback, then when I heard some of this it blew my mind because I had no idea there was an entire genre of music for that. I think someone posted Dragonaught somewhere and that was my introduction, one band leads to the next and then you're hooked
