Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
I've acquired both the Hoof AND the D.T. this week, so I have a super fresh perspective (I'd only seen the few online demos before getting them) if you have any questions. Happy to help.

Oh sweet thanks man.
I'd be using them for bass, so I guess the first question is how to both do with lower frequencies?
How are they in terms of "thickness?"

Tried this setting out last night (put the tone @ 3 o'clock) going into my fairly cranked JMP.... very much THAT sound. My amp went into melt-down, speaker explosion mode, with a nice "tear" on the topend. Very compressed, with a massive lowend. Guys in my band loved it.
Love this pedal more and more everytime I turn it on.
A while ago you sent me a song from your band and I forgot to tell you it was awesome.Sorry about that! Reminded me of Rorschach and a little His Hero is Gone.
Wow! thanks man! Glad you liked it. I was listening to a lot of Tragedy at the time I wrote it, so HHIG makes sense. I'm gonna have to check out Rorschach. That tune has the Tusk all over it. That thing brings the doom like nothing I've tried.
Heading back in the studio soon to record our first proper record. Stoked to now have both the Dirt Trans and the Tusk at my disposal. Going to make getting tones and tracking guitars a lot of fun.
Your days of plenty are numbered.

Not sure how it'll sound with bass, but I hear a noticeable boost in the lowend when I kick the DT on. Definitely thickens things up a lot. I imagine it would preserve, if not enhance, the thickness of your bass tone.
Haven't had the pleasure of trying the Hoof, but I always like the sound of a Big Muff on bass, so you probably can't go wrong with either.

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
one band I'm in (Black Market Butchers) recently added a cello player friend of mine to the lineup, and she was interested in trying some distorion/fuzz boxes for the cello. I threw a bunch in my bag for Sunday's practice, but had a gut instinct the Hoof would really work with cello, so i let her try that one first... and boy did it ever work!
so this is slightly off topic on the DTvHf issue of the thread, but i thought Jamie might be glad to hear that the Hoof sounds totally f'in' BOSS on a cello! Harsh bowing sounded especially sick!

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
heh heh, yeah EQD could be the first pedalbuilder to have in their ad copy "WORKS GREAT ON CELLO!!!"
But believe me, if we sent some clips of Helen (last name Gillet, my cellist friend in this group) ripping away with the Hoof, it would definitely move some units... she's a badass!
Check her out here =

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
Based on the soundclips I just bought a DT but was wondering if any one out there could comment on the following:
I'm a huge Black Keys fan and was wondering if the DT can cop some of the old Jordan Bosstone tones?
The DT will be running with a Hoof Fuzz and I hope that the two combined will meet [or exceed] all of my dirt needs!

We definitely need some demos with a ripping cello through a hoof please.

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
Got a new Hoof this week as well. Loving it with a 50's Gibby P90 archtop and stacked with a Frazz. Stutter tremolo comes in real handy here. Crazy good evil times. Thanks Jamie!

I have found that stacking my Hoof with my Shredmaster brings the pain! I love how this combo works together!

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
Decided I'm goann go with the Dirt Transmitter over the Hoof.
Maybe it's just my ears, but IMO, the Hoof is too "clean".

Re: Transmitter or Hoof?
This thread sold me on a Hoof, for everyone's reference. It'll have to wait until after I get a proper amp, though.
