Uncle Connies iPad/iOS Office Hours
It's your uncle (but not your grampa) and I think it's about time I start compiling all of my iOS shit posting on one place. Specially since now that people are getting more in touch with Drambo I'm falling more in love with this damn app. Holy shit what a good piece of gear.

Also new is the Kai Aras MM-1 Mutemaster. Which is an automated track muter. Which seems like something useless until you take it into the realm of AUM which works like a mixing console and then it all makes sense. MM-1 is great for getting longer arrangements down on AUM and it's seems to be a fantastic addition. Granted I still haven't gotten around to it.

Yup, that's my next big purchase. I can still get a lot done on my Air 2, but sometimes I get...overambitious and make the poor thing heat up real good. But that rarely happens as most apps have a pretty reasonable cpu load. Unless you're loading like 12 simultaneous copies of some of the denser synths.Gone Fission wrote:Imma gonna need to get a new iPad.

Here's another iOS tuber that I want to shine some light on because their videos are amazing. They are not demos but full tracks made within AUM, absolutely astounding.

My dude. I finally have iOS things that were made in this decade. You know me: what apps do I want?

Re: Uncle Connies iOS Shack!
Lets start with the basics here, since most apps out right now are audio units rather than dedicated you'll need a dedicated host. You can go with an iOS DAW, but they are either lacking or are completely enclosed and don'l take audio units. The best of these are Beatmaker 3 (think MPC) and Korg Gadget (enclosed and only uses their synths, but it's a fantastic musical sketchbook). HOWEVER, if you jsut want to make noise and record elsewhere you only needs one app, AUM. It's a mixer and auv3 host that does everything you need to run large patches.D.o.S. wrote:My dude. Now for other stuff....
I was going to put these individually, but everything Audio Damage makes is a must, insanely high quality synths and effects and they are super cheap.
Get their shit before anything on this list save for Drambo.
Synths:
Drambo - Think an elektron sequencer/groovebox set up powering a modular synth. If you can only get one app get this one.
Pure Acid - Remember the old Proppelerhead ReBirth? Just an 808 and a couple of 303's, that's pretty much what it is. It's a lot of fun to jam out with.
Korg iWavestation - the korg apps are all super well crafted recreations of their hardware stuff, so any of them would do if you like the synth they are based on. WAIT for a sale as they are super pricy and go on sale often.
Ruismaker Noire - It's basically an app version of the Noise engineering modules, drum based synth voice, you can see it in action on the video in my last post.
Samplr - the app the ignited the iOS music scene, not an auv3, but it's powerful enough to be on its own.
Mononoke - Bram Bos' take on the Soma Lyra-8, pairs really well with effects.
Effects:
FAC Bandit - Multiband FX module, a lot of fun and get great results
Bark Filter - if compression isn't meant to be subtle...
Reamp - amp emulation by klevgrand, really good for adding live to tracks
Effectrix - sugarbytes' iOS apps are hit or miss, get them only if you have one of the larger ipad, as their interface is the same as on PC.
RE-1 Tape Machine - my favorite non Audio Damage delay, really great tape machine emulation, grungy af.
Glitch Core - it's all i n the tin, bud.
Scatterbrain - really anything Bram Bos makes is great... Scatter brain is just fantastic. It's an audio slicer. Use it for sequencing routing or for all out chaos
Other:
Fugue Machine: my favorite midi sequencer, uses fugue rules to make multiple parts out of one sequence.
Fieldscaper: records and mangles audio, it's weird and i love it and it almost made me switch over to getting an iphone at one point.
Soundscaper: load up samples and intentionally mess up their bits to create all sorts of audio washes, also has the benefit of having the most hackerman interface ever, scare your neighbors!
There's more but I have hundreds of apps and I'm just moving to anew ipad today.

I also forgot to mention ApeMatrix, which is like Aum, but a matrix mixer instead of a regular one. Also cool, but less intuitive/more restrictive.

Very rad! I'm probably going to still be living in Live 9, but I figure now that I've got me a fancy creative machine I can finally unleash my inner consumer and push buttons on the stuff that only comes out for Apple kit
Will inspect as I can though. Thanks so much my whale brethren! Hope you're doing well

I'm going to look into that Drambo thx to this thread. I did not see Moog's Animoog posted here which I believe to be a top iOS synth. Likewise, Nave by Waldorf can get v. bonker.

Re: Uncle Connies iOS Shack!
My ipad is getting pretty old now too, but it has Nave, Thor, iProphet and iKaossilator on it, so it is still an extremely formidable synthbeast. For free stuff it has Alchemy, GrainProc, Tabletop, TF7 synth (an excellent free FM synth), and Musyc. The main thing I use it for the most is my Roland euromodules though.
I do have the latest version of the ipod touch, but haven't looked for anything new for it. Right now it only has an extra iKaossilator on it. I used to enjoy lots of cool free apps on my old ipod touch, which is now sporting a very cracked up screen but still functioning perfectly...stuff like Waviary, Fourier Touch/Air, Beatwave, WobbleBass, Euphonics, SoundPrism, 8-Bit Beat Pad, Space, Thicket, a zillion other soundboards/buttons and sample players, weird drone generators, rain machine/ocean sounds crap, and even just headphone out from the youtube app into a mix or a chain of pedals or modules is always fun.

Oh, DOS baby, you might also love Hexaglyphics. It's not a fancy app with interconnecttivity and ten thousand features, but the noises and interface are so cool.

Free retro piano plug in, sounds great! Audiokit proves to be one of the more important iOS releases ever, making it possible for so many new free quality apps to exist.
