Exhibition

Post by basti moon »

Hai friendly peoples.
I have this exhibition coming up and I'm doing this thing with a score, sort of. People will listen to the piece and maybe I'll have some random graphics going, and then if they are curious they can see how I did it and I'll have some info on the equipment and such.
it's sort of a way to make it more physical. The exhibit in itself is how I made the exhibit. I don't know if that's de-intellectualizing or not, I do like intellectual music.
So I want some feedback! Does it suck? How much does it suck? Any questions or ideas for improvement? I know I don't have pedals in the feedback loop, I found the sounds I was after by having it turned on with nothing plugged in.
Much appreciated!

(hope the video works, it works for me, but I just uploaded it :idk: )

Edit: Oh and it's an excerpt, about five-six minutes missing, the ending is a cacophony of strange noises and microphone feedback (it's turned off most of the time, the pitch is just the Ænima going)

Loved it. If I closed my eyes it actually took me somewhere else.

I think I'm gonna have to get a ring mod after this, LOVE those Koto sounds.

I like the idea, and the video excerpt is entertaining enough by itself. Cool stuff!

Such kind words, and quick too! (which is good since I don't have much time to fix stuff, hehe)

Stacco, the koto-like sounds are actually just from my normal guitar, but I have prepared it with a a napkin down by the bridge and the second-highest drone is detuned so it makes that organic dissonance. The ringmod wobbles the drone sawtooth synth-sound from the Ænima, I set the lfo the detune a little back and forth. Still worth getting if you ask me, been wishing that I had one for months and that thing just got in the mail!
In the next five minutes of it I change around the Ænima settings and the ringmod so everything goes into a crazy swooosh and I turn the mic on for direct nasty feedback, but not all that nasty. Tasteful nasty, I hope, hehe,

Can't thank you enough for the confidence boost!

I LOVE IT. AH! The beginning guitar koto-esque detuned sounds are epic!!!

And when you start to play the guitar your holding with the bow, the stuff going on behind it.

Oh, before I forget...

NICE SWEATER LOSER!!!!!!!!!!11111

Auugh, my poor feelings!

Thank you very very much for having something I've made described as epic for the first time I'm aware of!

Mister seizure, it's an akai headrush. It's got the wannabe tape thing going so the delays are more random and gots slight high freq roll-off.

Regarding the sweater, I picked it up in your wonderful country, Gustavo! Might have gotten some of your flash along the way, outshining me.
In the exhibit, however, the Devi pedal seemed to impress my head lecturer the most. That and the tunings of my stuff, I actually did spend a lot of time working on the setup even if it seems like I just put my gear up and started having fun.
Will mail sweater when I'm tired of the attention Devi!

Thanks again for the basti-boost, I wasn't nervous at all at the show. Might have been the bottle of Sailor Jerry's a little too.

Since this is my thread I'll just take a minute to point my finger at yous all and do a :p - I just saw Fennesz play in the most beautiful little museum of garden history located in a stone church.
