Pretty different birds, I think. According to Jamie, the Monarch should be considered a Bass Booster and a Treble Booster in addition to the overdrive. The White Light is loosely based on the Distortion + with more functionality...
I just bought a Monarch ten minutes ago, but I've got no White Light to compare it to...though there is a pretty decent WL demo on youtube with a Jazzmaster that's got me questioning my OD choice!

The white light is a more "classic OD" sound, hard clipping with diodes. It's a more well rounded, every day type of OD with crunch. The Monarch is more bulbous, good for thick chords with a lot of low end retention and sounds more like a gained up (vintage tube) with all the fuzzy corners and natural decay. Both pretty different from each other I think.

Don't know about the White Light, but I got my Monarch last night. Wow. I mean, really. Wow.
It's unlike any other overdrive I've used. The controls are all very reliant on each other. The amount of volume available is almost silly. But it IS a factor as well. I keep it around 8/9 o'clock for unity. The treble/bass are boosted instead of being subtracted. My toddler went to bed before I really got to spend any sort of time with the pedal, but here's the thing...
I use the headphone jack on my Boss DD-20 AND IT STILL SOUNDED GREAT! I mean, like a proper amp's overdrive. And there's no nasty compression. I was hitting chords with venom and it all sounded amazing...THROUGH HEADPHONES!!!
I was kind nervous about buying this, as I saw a few of them over at the Gear Page classified already...turns out, those guys are dipshits. Well, ok, maybe they are happy with their TS-9 Mod blah blah blah Timmy blah blah. But believe me, they are missing out in a major way. Awesome job EQD! :)* :)* :)* :)* :)*

No idea about how the White Light is, but I just learned that the guys in The Mercury Program are rocking the EQD Monarch.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Since starting a new thread is a huge responsibility that I just don't want at this time in my life, I will bump this one with questions.

1. What is the "Mids" situation on the Monarch? Is there any boosting or scooping? I like my mids.

2. How is the Monarch on bass? If it is decent on bass, there is no way I am not getting one.

3. That's it. :hello:

The mids are pretty flat, no scooping. Here is a video of the Matt Bailey of EYE using the Monarch on bass:

I have the monarch and as a bass player it is balls heavy, very responsive towards the volume control on your instrument. No low end loss at all, I run it into my Dwarfcraft ECT and it DESTROYS.

When I am able to have decent recording on my computer I will do a vid.

Imagine Geezer Butlers bass tone on Paranoid but with a thicker more distorted crunch.

That is how the monarch sound to me.

oh and Mids are fine, don't fuck around with them much but I like it.
