Re: Failed Pedal Lines and Companies
Synthmonger disappeared and was doing some cool stuff.
I remember him posting about something... a ... phaser? Or something. Had the proto on the go, a short demo on Twitter and then he fell of the face of the planet.

Re: Failed Pedal Lines and Companies
I think Synthmonger is back. At least perfect circuit keeps restocking the pulsemonger...
I think he got in trouble with preorders and not delivering for a while and just ships to a few shops now. But he was gone until the last 2 months or so (then again, it could all be NOS
).
I think the phaser got him in trouble and he never finished/released the pulsemonger mk.2

He is the worst in the industry when it comes to teasing things that are nowhere near production. He'll make a claim on facebook like, "Guys, get ready for 9 new pedals next month." Then he'll drop off the face of the Earth without any updates for the next 10 months. If you look at his timeline, you just have to laugh at how disagreeable his ambition is with his production numbers. I've been there and I know what it's like to fall behind on a deadline, but he should really refrain from promoting stuff, that isn't already being assembled for distribution.goroth wrote:Synthmonger disappeared and was doing some cool stuff.

The Prescription Electronics thing was a mystery to me. They were one of the first really successful and widely available built-by-hand outfits. I think the Yardbox and Experience were many players' first encounters with the boutique market. The Throb was a Pulsar clone before EHX reissued it. They were perhaps the first of the Portland builders (pre-CBread, pre-Malekko, pre-Deville, pre-Lightfoot, etc.), and at some point they announced a name change, but seem to have disappeared from the scene. Their old HQ fuzzbox.com remains inactive.

Duesenberg will be on this list soon enough. None of their pedals appear to have any bells or whistles, yet they command $350 and up. Their guitars may sell fairly well, but who the hell is buying their pedals?

This is $405 in the U.S. It lacks tap-tempo, expression inputs, and note subdivision. It has two modes, no presets, no side-mounted dip switches, and no tubes. You could buy almost any tremolo on the planet not named Goatkeeper or produced by Effectrode, and it would be more affordable and have greater features. So why would anyone (not named Chankgeez) buy one of these?

I love Jack's pedals, but he didn't exactly keep up with the times and the market. Kept a very low profile lately and wasn't much of presence online.echorec wrote:The Prescription Electronics thing was a mystery to me. Experience was defintely my first brush with boutique.
I think their old domain name may still even be for sale.

I was late to the zeibek party, so I'm just hunting and never got burned.

What's the current deal with Lightfoot labs? Do they still exist?

Re: Failed Pedal Lines and Companies
They/he were called Music Electronix before Zeibek. The name changed after the first time he cracked under the pressure, the second time it was all over. Real shame as his pedals were pretty good despite their simplicity. I still have my old Gemini Drive and think it sounds really good.JonnyAngle wrote:Yeah that happened.D.o.S. wrote:This is about the nicest thing I've ever read about Zeibek (and whatever they were called prior) and Oz.Dude flaked out on a lot of very vocal people, if I remember correctly.JonnyAngle wrote:How about Zeibek? I'll add Frostwave to the list. I want a Resonator and a Sonic Alienator so bad, but just can't justify the prices they go for these days.

Re: Failed Pedal Lines and Companies
Frostwave was basically Paul Perry doing all the stuff by himself. He was quite active on the Analogue Heaven mailing list when I used to read it (ages ago), very nice guy. From what I've heard he's got a bookshop in Melbourne nowspacelordmother wrote:I'll add Frostwave to the list.
