Canada, time to vote

Post by sylnau »

Hey canadian friends!

Tomorrow it's time to get rid of Stephen Harper.
Let's do it!

That's the view from the inside too, but look how long W stuck around. I'm not sure if Harper is still in power despite or because of things like election fraud, illegal lobbying, and dirty campaign tricks, but it's been working for him. But if your W comparison is accurate, it looks like we're getting our Obama next: a pretty young face to dupe the crowd with a laundry list of false promises of change.

:idk: Granted I have not spent as much time as I would have liked to [so far] in Canada, but, my over all impression was y'all wer'n as batshit crazy… oh well.. The Obama thing has been what I thought it would be my hope died a long time ago for any chance the perpetuation would change in our country, it's going to have to totally fall apart to be fixed.. it's a sad state of affairs all over these days with over-funded cronyism...

It's like a thinly veiled good-cop / bad-cop routine, where they trade roles once in a while, but both have the same agenda. 10 years ago, the Libs were guilty of the same corruption when Paul Martin's government was shamed out of office, but everyone seems to have forgotten that in Harper's wake. The question is whether a few different people will make the Libs into a different party entirely? I'm a little disillusioned as to that being the case.

The old and brittle vote Conservative. EVERY. TIME. No matter what. They're card-carrying members. "Don't know what's going on - I've been voting blue since I was knee-high to a grassharper!."
But they vote! And there's a lot of 'em...
It's sad, how people get all complainy, but can't get off their asses to vote. I mean... I get it... I can't remember a time in my life, where I've actually been excited to vote for someone and felt like it'd make a change. Sadly, my 'strategy' has pretty much always been like... "okay.. which one of these douche-y fucks is a slightly less douche-y fuck? Hmmmmmm...". It's a tough call!
But what good is pretend democracy, if you don't pretend!?
