I know this isn't a hi-fi forum, but...

Post by HAVN »

Figured I would share. Pops just sold the whole lot of his hi-fi, including lots of promotional Pioneer stuff from the '70s. Everything has been shrinkwrapped for 10+ years. Trying to get the rack with the power amplifiers off the shelf took two of us -- lotta iron.

Can I ask how much y'all got for all of it? I have zero hi-fi knowledge, but "this many dollars for this big pile of gear" always interests me, music gear or otherwise.

So, I will be the idiot and ask -- what does all that stuff do? Is it just a home stereo? Why are there multiples of some of the modules?

OMG I just fainted from the blood rush to my loins.

There is SO MUCH there that I'd love to have, and it all looks mint.

I hate whoever bought it. I hate you for not selling it all to me. I hate that this thread is colliding my worlds of effect GAS and home audio GAS.

I'm sure a lot of this stuff is redundant (reel to reel decks, cassette decks, etc). Pops just liked to collect. None of the power amplifiers was redundant. :!!!:

Left rack has two reel decks, a radio tuner and reverberator, second from left has (I think?) a power conditioner at the top, two pre-amps, two graphic equalizers, and another reverberator; third from the left is power amplifiers, all the way to the right is obviously just reels and tapes. I only know some of the model numbers but all of this stuff is still pretty sought after.

Believe you me, I was a little sad pops sold it. I'd have gladly taken a rack with an RT-909, SPEC-1, SPEC-2, and SG-9800. Problem is that I don't yet have a house and that's probably two or three years down the road. Fortunately a lot of this stuff is still fairly available.

It's all mint. Also in the lot was two pairs of Altec Lansing Model 19s. At one point he had three pairs (and five racks, long ago), but sold one of the pairs a few years ago.

I'm still going to get the HPM-150s eventually. :)
