If you were a professional boxer...
What song would you walk out to? I always thought Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" would be a good one. That opening bass line is killer. People would know I was one smooth motherfucker not to be messed with.

Re: If you were a professional boxer...
My cousin was a high school wrestler, and he used to talk about how he wished the team could come out for meets in black hooded robes to "Hells Bells" by AC/DC. I have to admit, it sounded pretty badass to the 8th grade me.
That said, I think I'd have to go with "Snakes For The Divine" by High On Fire. That intro was MADE for arena-scale spectacle.

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Oops wrong forum. That's what happens when you post on your phone. Or at least when I post on my phone.

Something from Merzbow. Or Wolf Eyes. Really loud. Walk out calm and completely expressionless. Not breaking eye contact with my opponent. Gotta work the fear/confusion angle cuz I dont have fighting experience

Stay Here off Filth. I mean c'mon, Gira obviously had boxing in mind when he wrote it. "Flex your muscles!".

Ooo ooo ooo yes! Old Swans is super fitting. I'm changing my answer to the Public Castration version of "Coward."

Re: If you were a professional boxer...
Eugene Robinson (of Oxbow) did a pretty cool series on this:

Some of the only Vice I can actually recommend to people.
Some highlights:
http://fightland.vice.com/author/eugene-robinson
Some of the only Vice I can actually recommend to people.
Some highlights:
Steve Albini
Song: Symphony #3, Symphony of Sorrowful Songs.
Artist: Henryk Gorecki
Fightland: Why did you choose that one?
Steve Albini: Because I would be facing brain hemorrhage and death.
Scott Kelly
Song: "It Took the Night to Believe"
Artist: Sunn O)))
Fightland: Why that song?
Scott Kelly: It instantly drops into the place I need to be. And imagine it over the PA in an arena? It would destroy. The crowd would be paralyzed.
Harley Flanegan:
Fightland: Usually we would ask what song would you use as your walkout music if you were an MMA fighter? But you are an MMA fighter. So what do you use?
Harley Flanagan: The last time I did any fighting where I walked in with some music was around the time I was making music for me -- specifically for me – like, in 2007. I mean I was doing a video for my Harley’s War project. I think the song was L.E.S OG. Lower East Side OG. So I picked it for artistic reasons and used the footage for the video.
Xiu Xiu:
Song (for himself): "This Is The Law Of The Plague"
Artist: Diamanda Galas
Song (for anyone else): "See You Don't Bump His Head"
Artist: Scott Walker
Fightland: Why "See You Don't Bump His Head"?:
Jamie Stewart: I think this would melt my brain if I saw someone come out to that. I think any song that sounds like physical punishment is cool and anything that sounds like a crazed lunge I like. Coming out to Slayer makes too much sense. I think it needs to be more frightening and more confusing. It bums me out when guys come out to Creedence or some good-time rock bullshit. Also, the title of the Scott Walker song, for a fight song, I think is funny.
Eugene Robinson:
Song: "Smooth Operator"
Artist: Sade
Really?
Not only does it lull your opponent into a confused state of amusement, but you immediately, as it was when I first saw it used, create a soundtrack for every post-fight seduction scenario you could ever imagine. No one will ever forget it, and in my case there’d be the outside chance that it would eventually help me fulfill Wu-Tang and Nas' vision of being "the only nigga Sade dated.”
Jarred Warren (of Big Business):
Song: "Big White Cloud"
Artist: John Cale
In the early days my understanding was that, at least the UFC, had made a conscious decision to do what they could to distinguish, at least the entrances and so on, from pro wrestling. To make it more like boxing. But this brings us to the premise: the best walkout song ever? And don't say anything by Godsmack.
Godsmack doesn't scare anybody. But what's that Graham Nash song? My wife just put it on a mix for me to listen to on our trip to Arizona for some wedding. Hey [asks his wife, THEN has to sing it]…oh, ok. It's not Graham Nash. It's John Cale's "Big White Cloud"!
Waka Flaka Flame:
Song: Throw Ya Gunz
Artist: Onyx
My walkout song? If I wasn’t a rapper, I’d probably fight. But since I am a rapper, um … Onyx. [Raps] It’s time to get live, live, live like a wire!/ I set a whole stage on fire! That Onyx shit? Oh, god! I just wanna go out there and rip somebody’s fuckin’ head off!
Lydia Lunch:
Song: Junkyard
Artist: The Birthday Party
Either that or my next LP: Music To Murder By … a punishing excursion of death grind horror core, an opera of sorts that illustrates the cleansing effects the correct application of a well-focused violence has on the individual psyche; in whatever shape it may take, be it music, madness, murder, or MMA. It’s a collaboration with Weasel Walter.
