Headed to Toronto
Girlfriend and I are going to Toronto on Sunday for a few days to see a show on Tuesday night, then head back on Wednesday. What else should we do?
Good restaurants, music stores (Paul's Boutique?), cool museums or galleries, weird interesting others? We also both like to carry cameras (super nerds) around. Maybe there are parts of the city that have tons of interesting buildings, people, graffiti?
We don't really have a plan so all suggestions are welcome and possible!

Re: Headed to Toronto
Paul's Boutique is pretty cool, Cask Music in the east end and Capsule Music on Queen are the other gear places worth seeing. Moog Audio too.
Steve's Music and Long and McQuade aren't particulary interesting.
Rotate This and Kops on Queen are great for records. So is Pandemonium.
Interesting stuff I dunno. Stay away from Yonge Street, it's bland and full of CHUDS. There's a billion cool places to eat and drink and a billion others full of frat/suburban double vibes. I dunno, I basically go where my wife likes to go. I guess the Junction is pretty cool and hasn't been entirely overrun by aholes. There's a great bar called The Hole in the Wall, awesome food great beer/bourbon and across the street is an awesome brewpub. I forget what it's called.
If you have any specific questions shoot me a PM or ask here. I've lived here 34 years but I'm in the east end now so I'm totally out of touch with cool things.

Oh, Thirsty and Miserable in Kensington is a great bar. Ronnies Local is cool too, right next to Paul's Boutique,

My friends and I got it from the movie C.H.U.D. (Cannaballistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers). Used to generally describe people that suck.Dr. Sherman Sticks M.D. wrote:a chud to me, is like a hefty nugget. like spot me a 10 chud.

I live at the North-East end of Yonge (around Eglinton). It's really not bad, there are some cool places up here. Def more chuds closer to the Eaton centre.Wes Mantooth wrote:I've never met another person who used the term chud outside of my friend group, weird.retinal orbita wrote: Interesting stuff I dunno. Re: Headed to Toronto
That's the name! I live in the junction for a couple of years, my wife grew up there. We were looking to buy a house there but the prices are fucking insane so we're in the east end, which I like way better. Less people. I went downtown today, man it sucks there!! There are people everywhere and they all smell or look like they're about to kill you. Fuck it man.... my wife is like "oh when we buy a different home we can move to the Junction" and I'm all.... it's the new parkdale!! 10x the assholes there were 5 years ago. Then we go there and she's like "you're right!!"intothegroove wrote:Indie Ale housethe Junction is pretty cool and hasn't been entirely overrun by aholes. I'm a 5 minute walk from there
Incredible food and all kinds on tap, hole in the wall is great to. If you're in the mood for wicked Mexican go to Playa cabana cantina a few doors down, further down the street there's a really awesome restaurant/bar/concert hall called 3030 Dundas west. Really great bands play almost every night, really great food that's a fusion of a lot of cultures, nice beers on tap and there is Axis a little further down that's a pretty big pub, good food and some nice stuff to drink
The junction is very antique old west Toronto, great neighborhood with a ton of excellent places to go for food, coffee, booze.
I was at Bricco the other day. That place is fucking expensive, but awesome.
I really liked Margarets though. Did you ever go there? It was like a fucking David Lynch esque bar that only served tall cans of shitty domestic and everyone there looked like they were on drugs. I wish that place booked shows, it would have been fucking surreal to play there. I kept asking the owner but they said no.... and then they went out of business....
I love when people refer to Dupont and Dufferin as "Junction triangle". That's like the BIA here calls my neighborhood "upper beach".... what the fuck ever man, I'm closer to Germany than I am to the water.....

A guy got murdered right outside of that place earlier this year.Chankgeez wrote:Oh, I totally forgot about this place:
The Tim Hortons across the street in the movie theatre is one of the shittiest ones in the city. Literally everyone who goes there is awful and the staff would rather poison you than roll with good service.
If you go to the bar at the corner you will die
There is a fucking awesome butcher/sandwich place down the street called Stock In Trade. It's amazing. And there's a cool bar down the street about 4 blocks east called The Wren which i where east end hipsters like myself drink. It's awesome.
