BST: lesson learned!
I've been researching a decent PayPal alternative for the past few days. While doing so I've realized I've developed a few idiosyncrasies and habits over buying, selling and trading used goods. I've come to the conclusion that most of the time they're the result of a bad experience I've had. I wonder what were your lesson learned?
I personally never get paid by check (only cash or PayPal but I'd really like to avoid PayPal nowadays) and never ship uninsured and without tracking.

Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

Always ask for pics, to some people mint means a pedal that failed a nuke test.

Yeah, I've learned to always ask for pics (or in actuality, I usually don't ask. I usually just ignore the listing if pics don't accompany it. But if it's something really rare that I really want, I'll probably ask).
That came from buying a pedal on here from a guy who actually posted a manufacturer pic of the item and said "looks just like this one" and then when I got the pedal, it did look just like the manufacturer's pic, save for the 2 or 3 giant gashes in the the front graphic and the countless scratches all around it.
(also had another experience where a guy was listing a rare pedal I really wanted. I kept asking him for pics and he kept saying he would get around to it. Months later, when he couldn't sell it and finally did get around to posting a pic, the pedal looked like it had been put through a wood chipper.)
So, lesson learned. Always ask to see a pic of the actual pedal before buying.

I've learned that 9/10 people on ILF own cats. Or I assume that because I always seem to receive pedals with cat hair all over them. I'm super allergic to cats, so it actually pisses me off sometimes.
Also, I've learned that despite good feedback and years of posting doesn't mean anything. I have just as much luck trading with people or buying from people with none.

I've learned that some lesser forums make you pay for bst but ILF doesn't and that's why we're all sooo cool and get to hang at the Wang Bar...
Also I've never had a bad deal with any of my Breauxxxzzz...

Re: BST: lesson learned!
I've had 1 problem deal and many many good deals here (botched deal was a trade where I was sent the wrong pedals, months after I sent my end. the wrong pedal was one I sent to him hahaha)
I used to buy and sell internationally through gear talk on Facebook but now the only international deals I will do are on ILF, locally I have been fine with deals through a bunch of groups
I'm always a bit worried but I guess that comes with the territory
I'm pretty trusting though and will paypal gift most payments, I don't designate either way for how I want to be paid but I usually prefer gift, if its on ILF, my word is my bond and all that
