Prepared and experimental guitar resources
I've always been fascinated by prepared guitar and experimental electro acoustic music. Keith Rowe, John Cage, Fred Frith etc. I'm wondering if anyone has any info on resources or where to find more recordings of this type of music. I compose/improvise on my own but would like to find all the info I can. Thanks!

Re: Prepared and experimental guitar resources
Step 1: Do it.
Step 2: Do it.
"Prepared" is great, just slam stuff under strings, hit the guitar, hit the strings, play it any way except the way you think you should, and go from there.
Learn to integrate that into what you're doing nomally.
Rock on.
Experimental guitar is simply that - experimenting.
Program some random presets, without listening, Make yourself play along and make a song with it. Etc.
I've done full on all-improv all the time for over twenty years, if it's not an experiment, I don't want in!

^This. Some of the best guitar playing was archived by playing the guitar in ways it wasn't originally intended to be played. Use your imagination. Don't think outside the box. Tell yourself there is no box to think outside of.rfurtkamp wrote:Step 1: Do it.

No guitar, but I thought you might enjoy this nonetheless. Very cool Japanese improvised experimental drone type stuff using heavily electronically processed mostly acoustic instruments. Say that 3 times fast.
