I ordered a used Pharaoh from guitar center which arrived today. I didn't even get a chance to play through it yet, but I did open it up and noticed the following inscriptions.
Does the #9 mean anything special?
What does modified mean? What spec is this?
Any insight is appreciated. I'm gonna go see how it sounds.

Without speculating too much I think it could almost be guaranteed this was owned by an ILFer. Maybe go and post a "what gives" thread in general discussion, someone might know the deal.
WWPD?

Haha that's pretty cool if it was owned by one of us before.
I posted over in the general gear thread on ILF, hopefully it will spark someone's memory.

yeah, 9th one made, modded to triangle spec. Mark used to post on the HC Doom Room and I think that's where the Pharaoh got it's initial notoriety. That all happened a bit before I found that place.
When HC self destructed most of the DR guys made their way here. If they are not an ILF member currently I'm sure that someone in the DR might know, of course that was a while ago and peoples memory's of who got what after the first couple might be iffy.

I only got to test it out tonight a little at low volumes. I'm not sure a Triangle Mod is what I'm looking for though. I'll have to test further and see if I want to keep it or do a return or trade.

I think this might had belonged to Nick, no? I thought I remember him selling a black pharaoh modded to triangle specs a while back. I love triangle muffs, hope you enjoy it.

Never go on a Pharaoh's tone at low volume..... It is designed to sound best into a cranked amp and that is really where it shines.
That being said I KNOW that pedal from somewhere.... I just can't put my finger on it. It definitely belonged to an old HC Doom Roomer. Can you post a pic of the front? is there one or two toggles? If there's two are both of them two position or is one three position? This is a first run so theres alot of things that could be "custom" about it.
Oh and Ummmm yeah if you don't end up liking it I'll take it off your hands.... Kinda got sentimental old school doom room sentiment to me.

This. I ended up selling mine off just because I never got to play it loud enough. I would sometimes set my amp volume pretty low just so I could crank the Pharaoh, which was almost as good as cranked Pharaoh into cranked amp.
The first 25 or so I believe were made with before he started adding the upgraded 3 way switch. If one of the switches (can't remember which one right off, bottom I believe) are a 3 way then it has the upgraded clipping section. The triangle I'm not so sure of, but it is easy to assume that it is modded to triangle muff specs since the paint marker is a different color than the original writing in there. The first run of them are made on GGG muff pcbs. If you run it at low volumes you really won't hear much difference in either eq on the pedal. You have to crank it before you notice a difference. It took me a while to figure it out and I came so close to getting rid of mine so many times before it all clicked. I won't get rid of mine for anything now. It stacks really well with other pedals too so definitely try that before deciding it isn't for you.

I used to own this unit. I bought it off a guy who used to post in the HCFX Doom Room. It was a pharaoh modded to a Triangle muff spec by Mark (BAT)
It was not bad, its less bassy and lower gain but a bit tighter. I still dig a stock pharaoh sound more. I do have #18 I believe from the original run of 25 Mark sold in the TGP Doom Room. Way before most of you youngins ever were on the doom room
