GoPro camera murrrrr?

i want a wireless hands free camera for vidjas, GoPro's the only one i've heard of. the Hero3 is only $200 through Amazon right now if you buy the white one. all reviews seem to think it's damn fine as long as you update the firmware manually, which, i'm a nerd. i'm cool with that.

any other options i should look at? anybody like/hate these?

Pretty solid list of some alternatives. Always wanted to try mounting a cam to one of my guitars and review my playing that way. Or just as something cool for a show. You know, for the lulz.

Owing to my Action Sports Lifestyle™ I've had a lot of experience with GoPros. They work really well, they're more or less impossible to break once they're in the case, and they're suuuuuper easy to use.

The default lens is mad fisheye, though. Like late 90's skate video fisheye.

Other option I've seen is the Contour Roam, but apparently they're bailing out of the business--probably because they couldn't compete with GoPro.

Contour recently announced that it will be exiting the digital camcorder business. Service & support (including warranties) have been discontinued and all Contour products, software and apps will no longer be supported by Contour following your purchase.

So, yeah, I don't know if I would play with that.

EDIT: I have seen the Ipod cases. Seems like they work fine, but the only people I've seen using them have been the people who won't bat an eye at having to replace their iPhones.

hurm. some of the other options look neat too, but i do like to buy the Winning Company if i can, 'specially if it's something i don't know tons about. like cameras.

urm. by Default Lens do you mean a different software option or a physical lens change? I KNOW NOTHING.

Hardware, not software. I thiiiiiiinnk you can swap it out, but I'm not sure.

since i get butt fast shipping with amazon i think i'm gonna try that one see if i dig it. they do have the liberal return policy.

I've used all three iterations at one time or another.

Just checked--looks like the wide angle is the only option. I don't know if that's make or break for ya, though.
