What shall I do in Colorado?
I'm visiting sept 23-26th. I have a handful of friends there and hiking, beers, and debauchery is planned thus far. Also, a free show at 3 Kings Tavern of what sounds like good old fashioned stoner goodness.

Both Chelsea Wolfe and Mamiffer are playing in Denver on the 24th, but at different venues. If you're into either of them, that is

3 Kings is a cool venue. If you've got access to wheels, try heading up to Fort Collins and checking out the New Belgium brewery.
And the Odell brewery, which is secretly way better than New Belgium and the one I always forget the name of.

Its no secret at all actually. Much much better breweries than New Belgium all over CO. Not knocking New Belgium either, they do make great stuff, and they are the biggest, which is kinda the whole point if your into New Belgium.D.o.S. wrote:3 Kings is a cool venue. Great Divide, Oskar Blues, Avery, Lefthand, Boulder Beer Co, tons of other really. Great Divide is cool as shit cause it's downtown so it's only a hop and skip from the rest of the bars and restaurants there.

I gotta do a brewery tour of Denver/Ft. Collins at some point. So much good stuff. Great Divide makes some of the best damn stuff...Joe Gress wrote:Its no secret at all actually. On top of the above, Fort Collins Brewery is great.

Yeppers. Mamiffer opens for Alcest, and True Widow for Chelsea Wolfe, I think.. . Though I'd rather see Mamiffer play a full-length set than an opening length one.blahquaker wrote:that's funny, because what I saw was True Widow and Alcest are playing in Denver on the 24th, but at different venues.gunslinger_burrito wrote:Both Chelsea Wolfe and Mamiffer are playing in Denver on the 24th, but at different venues. that 3 kings tavern show looks good too. totally dig Windhand. what a crazy tuesday.aeonrevolution wrote:Dang. So, 3 shows I now know of in one day. Ha.
looks like Anathema is actually the headliner for the Alcest + Mamiffer show. if they don't add an opener, all 3 bands could still play 40+gunslinger_burrito wrote:Yeppers. Denver Museum of Art is pretty cool, and has a LOT of stuff in it, if you're into art. I went in March and they had an exhibit about design for consumer products, and it had a lot of different chairs. That was awesome. There's so much stuff there, in fact, I didn't really have time to really let it sink in and kind of sped through it all. But I also had just drove almost two hours from Cheyenne (where my brother lives), was getting hungry, and wanted to hit up Oskar Blues on the way home. By the way Oskar Blues's brewery is pretty cool. They were playing classic soul music when I went in for a beer.aeonrevolution wrote:I'm visiting sept 23-26th. Pretty much the only thing there is to do in Colorado is drink beer. Pick one, you can't go wrong. I might be missing something, but I'm more of a fan of New Belgium than I am of Odells. I just like Belgian style beers more, I suppose.
Coincidentally, my brother's birthday is the 23rd of this month.

Hey, I'm sitting in the Denver airport at the moment. Getting on a plane home soon. I was only here for a conference and didn't really have any spare time but I took a few walks every day and it definitely looked like a cool place!

I just checked out Alcest. That is pretty good stuff... I have a handful of Katatonia/Anathema/Porcupine Tree and it reminds me of that realm.
Damn... Guess I'm gonna leave it up to fate where I end up.
