Anyone else having trouble with the "View first unread post"

Post by DarkAxel »

.. because i am and it makes ILF very hardly usable for me :(

it always puts me like... three to five pages BEFORE the first unread... is that a problem on my side or is there some kind of glitch noone seems to be bitching about?

Yup, I've noticed it happens in the really large threads (Pedalboards, Doomroom, Headsup/ebay) etc.
If the thread is bumped several times while I"m active and reading other threads, it behaves as normal when I click "read first unread".
Soon as I navigate away from the site, when I return it sends me back 5 pages even though they haven't *been unread* in days...

Especially in the Pedalboard thread.
5 pages back like clockwork, but this has only been happening the past month or so... :idk:

this. there's probably some weird code somewhere that isn't equipped to deal with a topic with 10,000 posts. there's another forum i frequent (on different software FWIW) which periodically goes dark because the software has to re-index tons of accumulated posts.

I'm on it, but this might be one of those issues that are fixed with the next phpbb update...otherwise, it looks like some deep code digging, and I need to get up my nerve before going there.

You could start a new topic for the really big topics, post a link in the original topic, and close the original topic. That buys at least 100 pages of posts before code digging is required. Plus, it cleans out the people who are subscribed to the original topic, but don't come around anymore.

There are only really a few topics were I notice it. The "Let's see your" topics, and the Heads Up Ebay topic. There are probably just a few more.
