I'm sorry to hear that man, and I agree, fuck cancer, I lost my mom on it three years ago, I don't know, together with heart attacks it seems to be one of the primary death causes in the West nowadays, fuck that!
All the best for you, your friend and your uncle!

So incredibly sorry to hear it, man - I've had quite a few cases of the big C in my family as well, and it's horrible stuff.

i'm sorry homie. we went through my wife's mom passing from cancer. shit was horrible. she was actually lucky that the 4 years from diagnosis, it was really the last half year where things were getting rougher.

i'm just scared as shit because that makes like 7 women in my wife's fam getting cancer, some as early as 40.

I'm sorry to hear this man. You're in my prayers for what it's worth.

My dad had cancer last year, and was able to survive it. Even after he's gone through all the treatments though, it's like being in constant fear of it popping up again. Or finding something on yourself and thinking it may be cancer. Ugh. It's such a vial and horrible thing to go through. I've lost my Grand Pa, and a cousin to cancer. It sucks.

Yup. I've lost a bunch of extended family to cancer, but it's gotten more real for me recently. My dad has advanced prostate cancer. It's already spread and is inoperable. They more or less told him to just forget about it and enjoy life. Luckily he still probably has a few years of good left (prostate cancer kills real slow).

Also my wife's mother died of brain cancer, and my wife herself had cancer when she was a kid (hodgkins). She's been clear for 15 years though. I worry about that running-in-the-family shit a lot.

you know, it's funny, in that sad realization kind of way.
I cried on the phone with my mom yesterday morning, cried in the shower, then went to a barbecue comp to get my mind off of it. my girlfriends coworker makes the best damn ribs i've ever had, absolutely obscene.
but talking to him and his family, who were all there, like even his neighbor was chillin.
It's one of those things where you're happy for someone to have that kind of support and community around them while at once lamenting that you don't have that yourself (outside of ILF ofcourese  ).
this hurts cause of the whole brown kid with no dad growing up in the ghetto thing, so my uncles were always my father figures and two have died of cancer/liver failure combinations in the past few years, this ones going through the same thing and I have another one working his way up to no liver as well...it's great.
Trying not to think about it too much, live and let live and all that.
his story is the saddest one I've been a part of, and dying like this isn't something he deserves.
hah I'm tearing up now, that awesome knot in the throat.
maybe I'll post his story at some point for those that want a real sad read

thanks for reading and hanging out yall. ilubbgrl <3 5eva

I don't have any sad stories about cancer, but you have my support as it is. I hope you get through it!

Should you maybe go get your genes checked so you know what to look for in case it runs in the family?

I can honestly say i've never had such a violent reaction to anything, but he passed away a few hours ago and I'm just now starting to feel ok.

I'm sorry that happened man. :(
I hope these can be some words of support for you.
In some way you'll have to get through the whole situation of your uncle not being there anymore and from my experience it can take a while, give yourself the time and don't be too hard on yourself.
Little by little over time it'll all be a bit less in your face as it is in the beginning, you'll remember all the good times you had together and on certain occasions missing your uncle will strike you again, that's normal I guess.
I'm not sure about any of this but at least this is what happened to me with my mom so far.
Hang in there and remember your uncle would like you to be happy, when you feel down it can give you some positive energy to get through it all!

EDIT:
Edited my post because I think some of the stuff I wrote isn't valid anymore now, it was more about the initial shock when such a heavy thing happens, as I feel I can relate I'd like to give you my words of support written above.
