Huge life altering decision to be made

Ok so my band has been having issues keeping a line up. We potentially have found the perfect drummer and just got a new practice space. Indian Space Station is my brainchild and I love the 2 guys that have been in it with me since the conception. However my best friend is in a band that is getting pretty big and FAST. They were just asked to play the NYC pop festival and also found the producer for the first album. However they are looking for a new male vocalist. They are guy/girl split vocals and he has extended the invite. Now this would mean giving up my brainchild who I have fought tooth and nail to keep together, quitting school ( for the time being) right before my 5th year and leaving my girlfriend in AR with no idea how or if it could work out with her. My parents pay for my school and the agreement has always been that I would finish and then my debt free life is mine, however after talking to my mom she has said there is no ways he would stop me from going. What would you do?

yeaaa they have been looking for a drummer for months haha. Atleast it hasn't stopped them like it has us.

Tesla is staying with ME. OMG he has stayed the week with the vet because I was going out of town (on a plane) it has been hell, I dream abt him constantly 8 ( He has been the most therapeutic thing I have ever had. So he will be making the move if I do. However, that is one of the things that weigh in the most. Finding a place to live.

Oh lol. That threadjack might be the most awesome thing ever.

But here's my thing. IF the choice were "go try this thing out and possibly lose everything I was working towards with school" then the choice would be very hard....as in....if you were paying your own way and would be throwing it all away with mounting debt or if your mom were against it or something.....totally hard. But with this, it sounds like the choice is simple to go with it. If it fails, you come back and it sounds like you'll get help finishing school. I know your brainchild project seems the most important thing here, but from an old guy (I might not be 30 but I have five kids and a masters, it counts), school is way more important than the local band project.....now...if school can still be had afterwards and it's a regional band....different equation.

But again, I'm sure your mates will understand, and the project can start up, again if this shot fails (lemme know if I'm wrong here). So whereas most people would have a hard debate between losing everything for this shot....it sounds like you're set up to where if it doesn't work out you can come back and pick things back up.

No brainer, if so. Do it.

Brain child projects come and go. And if you lose it, can be rebuilt in a month. A shot at actually doing even a regional is something some people get once and most get never.
