Hey, i'm a scotsman living in manchester england.

I have a couple or so guitars (some offsets, some shred sticks), but my squiers are getting the most love at the moment (jmjm and a vintage modified jag).

Amp wise, i alternate between a '74 vibrilux reverb, and a laney vc15. I still use my 80's champion 110 in the bedroom though.

Pedals wise it's pretty sparse in comparison to most on here. TS9, RAT, big muff tone wicker, cool cat chorus, bf 2 flanger, dd3, and a jamman looper. Sometimes a mt2 also.

So nothing fancy in there, and that's part of the reason i'm here. I've only recently discovered the absolute joy of fuzz, but i've already grown out of the muff (like it more stacked with the RAT). I'm kinda tring to decde on either an eau claire thunder, or a shoegazer. Both seem awsesome, but quite different.

Anyways, this place seems cool, glad i found it

welcome! I loooove SF vibrolux's. If I had $1,400 I would be eyeballing the '68 on the local craigslist here.

Also glad to hear you like your VM jag, as I'm getting one for christmas!

Other pedals I would urge you to check out is the Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom (my fav fuzz) and anything/everything by Dr. Scientist.

I think my parents had that book hidden in their closet and I used to sneak peeks of it when I was a young teenager.

Thanks man, yeah the vibrolux is a sweet sweet amp. I inherited it, so I'm double lucky I guess. The VM Jag took a little bit of getting used to for me. I have a kc mustang, so I was OK with the scale length, but it took me some time to get the thing set up so it wasn't rattling all over the place. I'd actually recommend a modified mustang bridge if you can afford it. I think you can make the guitar work without it, but I like low action and 10s, so was easiest option for me. I just LOVE the pickups.

Must admit I do like the pedal (don't use the wicker or tome switch, so just run it as a muff), but it's just a little...tame. Not looking to kill anyone, but I need just a little more anger. The thunder looks awesome, but it's also a serious chunk of change.

What Dr Scientist fuzz do people recommend, for someone who wants a pedal that can do normal fuzz, plus just a bit more?

That was my first fuzz too. I didn't get along with it too well, but I loved it in to another gain box. It felt like it kinda put a cage around the muff and fuzziness could just barely escape from this muffled, tangled mass of dirt. And it was actually pretty usable!
I've been rocking a cheapo octave fuzz for quite a while now though.
