Hey are you artists! (the drawing and painting kind)

I am wondering as an experienced artist are there any gift ideas you may have to get for someone who likes to sketch/draw? I mean I reckon being involved in that you have your own preferences just like anything else, so is there a good way going about knowing what could be useful?

do they have a preference for pens or anything like that? A really nice bound sketchpad?

A moleskine notebook is ALWAYS a good choice. They're Fender Amp of notebooks. Good for everything, really.

If he/she is into markers, I suggest Prismacolors. They're a tad expensive, but they're SO WORTH IT.

For pens, I've heard really good things about Calligraphy style markers. The ones that have a soft paint-brush-like tip.

Also, a good set of pencils can go a long way. There's ones specific for sketching that have different graphite weights, and come in sets.

alright thanks for the tips! I have no idea about brand preference, I don't think they do, a good notebook is a fantastic idea!

I've always enjoyed graphite and tinted charcoal sketching pencils by Derwent. Good gift.

I second Moleskin, it's what I've been filling up these days. A nice solid black pigment pen is a good starting point as well.

Moleskines and pens, all the way.

Also, if they're the kind of people that like to sketch on the run, you could buy them a bunch of these: http://fieldnotesbrand.com/shop/

i've found moleskines to be increasingly unsatisfactory the more i draw in them with pencil. pen, felt tips, ball points (sorta), some washes, they're great. Bee is a brand i've grown to like because they're good for pencil. and whats good for pencil is usually good for pen, but not the other way around.

get them a schnazzy fountain pen or calligraphy pen. Brause makes good stuff

Good thinking, from what I have seen she predominantly uses pencil, so thanks for the heads up on specific brands!
