You need to arm up a posse with some paintball guns and go on a stakeout. Hide in the bushes or trees, and wait for the scumbags and then snipe them.

My dad noticed his Suburban door wasn't all the way shut the other morning, he went to go close it and the glove box and center console had been emptied out all over the floor, luckily he didn't have anything of any worth...they left the Ted Nugent cassette tape.......

my dad often leaves his truck unlocked, windows down, sometimes with the keys in, overnight in the summer.
the one time he didn't someone broke into our neighbours car and emptied an entire fire extinguisher into it.
