Kick Ass kicks ass!

Post by Holy Schnikes »

Not sure if there's a thread on this already...but I finally watched Kick Ass today, I loved it! Seemed reminiscent of Sin City, really well made and crazy entertaining. Hit-Girl is the shit and it's the best Nic Cage performance in quite some time. I'm a little behind on movies, should have watched this one long ago.

I've been meaning to watch this. I know a friend of mine has it(same friend who showed me Scott Pilgrim). When I saw the previews I thought, "hm, a movie about kids/adolescents beating up criminals. That sounds awesome." Then I heard it was pretty much that except even more brutal than I imagined, so yeah, I've been wanting to see it for a while.

i want to see that. i went to the theatre to see it with my friend, but she forgot her id and they wouldn't let me buy two tickets. it was kinda bullshit. it's because she looks 12 though.

Yeah, it's exceptionally brutal, gritty and realistic, but surreal at the same time. This is especially true of scenes with an 11 year old girl dealing death with precision and grace.

Just visually stunning throughout with really great characters. It's funny, sad, violent, tense, heartbreaking, inspiring all at the same time. With all this going on, the film still manages to flow perfectly. There's so many takes on the super hero genre now days, but this one feels unique and fresh.

Oh yea, my buddy brought some shrooms along with Kick Ass, this definitely heightened my experience!

Great movie!
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, God said, "Let there be Lips!" And there were, and they were good, and the lips said...

I read the graphic novels and enjoyed them. Going to have to check this out myself soon.

Side note: Almost all of the graphic novels / comics I read in 2010 became movies. The only one that didn't? Mouse Guard. That would be a kick ass movie.

They really fast track 'em now, I read that the Kick Ass movie production was underway before all the graphic novels were even drawn. I'm not sure what the film budget was but it wasn't financed by a major studio and the end result is incredible. Great piece of filmmaking all things considered.

i loved how sometimes it looked like a mellow teenager movie and sometimes there was some good ol' ultraviolence

it's really dynamic in that way :)
