Read any good books lately??

Post by Holy Schnikes »

A friend gave me this recently, I loved it. First time I've read anything by Christopher Moore, he's hilarious!

No. Mainly staring at random things and daydreaming lately.

A classic, but one of my favourites:

I just love Beckett's rambling style

I'm a huge Hunter S Thompson fan and this is in the same vein as that, although slightly different in it's narrative

Beckett's a screaming genious. Have to reread those novels.

Right now I'm reading 2666 by Bolano, which is very nice. It is a little weird that it's five independent parts and when you got used to one set of characters the part will end and the next one begins where the characters you have grown to like only play secondary roles.

Before that 1Q84 by Murakami. Nice throughout. A typical Murakami. But the ending was a little too laconic.

Next up are either infinite jest or transition by ian m banks. love me some s/f.

I'm rereading Dune right now (for about the 15th time). Next I'll either re-read The Illuminatus Trilogy or something by Steinbeck (like Cannery Row maybe).

I was reading Zen and the Art of Motocycle Maintenance but I had to return it (it's a dense read :joy: ), need to pick it up again.

I'm about a quarter of the way through that one, put it down a couple of weeks ago and kind of forgot about it. I need to start reading it again tonight, I quite like it so far.

I found a really neat used/rare/out of print bookstore recently, but I didn't know of anything to look for
I've been wanting to find a good mystery or sci-fi novel (or possibly something more philosophical..) Any recommendations? :?:

I finished dune a few months ago. Excellent. I'm rereading Flowers in the Attic by V C Andrews for the 10th time. Awesome book, I highly recommend it. Sick and disturbing.

And there's a book by Dale Carnigie called How to win friends and influence people that I just finished. The title sounds lame and makes one who is reading it look to be a lonely loser. But it's a fun and informative read. I found the book on a bus stop bench with a holographic rainbow unicorn bookmark. Score!
