basically i've decided to write, what by definition would be, backing tracks
from what I've heard ableton is amazing for writing beats and glitches and stuf, which is basically what I need
but being so used to garageband this is so weird to me, any tips or advice?
I'm watching the videos and stuff but it's still weird, gives hints pl0x
anyone use ableton?

yeah just watch the vids. playing with it I think is the best way to learn. I have been using live on and off for 3 years and I still discover new shit about it!

I used it for ~6 months and found it to be ok. I prefer Garageband by far though.

Re: anyone use ableton?
isn't garageband based off Ableton? I'm about to get something so I'm interested. I was making beats on FL and then my computer crashed three years ago, and then I got a laptop for Christmas, so I'm trying to figure out what's good. I don't want Fruity Loops no more.

Do you have to use the computer ? There are lot's of cool hardware loopers, recorders, samplers that could probably do the same thing...

Ableon is awfully cool. It takes a lot of time to figure out though. Basically my advice is keep using it. Practice makes perfect I guess
