This is not what I would have expected and I am very pleased.

I'm not big into video games overall, but I've been a huge Mortal Kombat fan since I first saw it in the arcade back in middle school. I'm glad it's finally getting some serious attention. The movies back in the '90s were a joke.

Yep, posted this in the video game thread yesterday.
Hate on the first movie all you want, but it had an awesome soundtrack. That's how I first heard about Fear Factory, Buckethead, Type O Negative, and Napalm Death.

Apparently the trailer was a "pilot" of sorts, pitch material to get WB to pick up the movie and really put it into production.

I love the reptile origin story, the others are a bit flat though...and all the name dropping was a bit lulz

Fortunately it won't take too much to play Major Captain Jax Jacks Briggs.

But I love how they're trying to remove as much fantasy from the story as possible. I'm excited to see how they'll "realify" other elements of the story. Mainly Goro.

Hahaha unless it's a blaxploitation spoof film, he's perfect for those (black dynamite). I just wasn't sure if there was some interesting story to hear about or if it was dislike plain and simple.

Maybe there could be some crazy genetic engineering angle, where Goro or Shiva are the results of some mad scientist tinkering about to create the ultimate warrior. You know - real scientific-like.
