DUDE! I saw the first Boston show of that tour. It was AMAZING. Of course, they were playing to the hometown crowd. I think they ended up doing three encores. At the last one, Clint said, "ok - this is really the last song - we don't remember any more more of 'em!"
I've seen them four or five times since, and they always wipe the floor with whatever band that opens for 'me (usually half their age).
Anyhow, still trying to think of a proper odd experience to contribute.

Dude, they ALL rule! But yeah, Peter is a friggin' force of nature. He also lives in Rhode Island now, so every now and then I'll see him hanging out around town, which just throws me for a loop.
last year when i was utterly desperate for funds i sold my Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster Dark at the Starving Musician shop in Santa Cruz. i kind of had a feeling they'd never sell it, and it was still there when i left town months later. I was looking on the chain's website--they have three Bay Area shops--and lo and behold the Berkeley store, which handles the boot eek pedals, had what appears to be my TBD listed for $150. IIRC they paid me about $125 for it. so i bought the motherfucker. i'm dying for it to get here so i can see if the electrical tape around the circuit board shows the signs of having been peeled off and then replaced when i was looking for potential trimpots.

wowzers. the one time i was like fuck it, just sell an assload of pedals locally at a shop one of my buds at Starving was like, "no no no no no. stop it. we can give like $30 or $40 at MOST on each pedal. take the time to list it on a site. you goof.".

Not as interesting as some of the other stories but.. this is from my sophomore or junior year of high school (99-00)
A teammate and I were talking about being nervous playing against another local school the next day (they were 3 year state champs in football consecutively, undefeated). So we're just going back and forth about it in this calculus class and this girl chimes in "I can give you guys something to help with your anxiety." So my buddy being the genius he was talks her into giving us two of these brownish tablets each. We pop them and ask what they are, "oh just my anti-psychotics." I figure "hey I'm not psychotic so this probably won't do anything." WRONG.
So onward to the next class, some biology course they made up for those of us finishing up regents honors scholars requirements. I'm sitting there taking a test on prefixes and suffixes used in the medical field when my leg just starts fucking shaking. Bouncing up and down like you do when you're nervous. My hands start shaking as well. I finish my test and ask if I can go see the nurse, I'm freaking out. So I walk into the nurse's office and my buddy is out cold on her couch. I'm thinking "oh shit." She sees what's happening to me and I tell her it's just nerves or something so she sends me home.
I get home and the shaking just won't stop, and I end up in some weird state on my bed where I'm awake but totally in the middle of a dream. My mom comes in and I'm hallucinating like crazy, rambling about "Charlie" because apparently I'm having a hallucination about being in Vietnam at this stage of the game. My eyes are all wild and rolling, it's 5 o'clock in the afternoon and I'm running around in my underwear and hiding behind my dresser, peering around it and shit. My mother ends up calling the nurse and I'm talking to her on the phone, thinking I'm on a radio with home base demanding reinforcements.
Eventually I pass out and the next day I wake up still feeling a little shaky and weird but otherwise I'm alright. As soon as I get into school I get called to the nurses office where she talks to me about the night before, looking at me like I might break into a psychotic rampage and suggesting that I get counseling.

i got beat unconscious by about 10 or 15 guys in high school, about a year after that i had a seizure. it's pretty interesting actually. they did an MRI or a PET scan, i forget which, after each incident. there was a section of my brain after the attack that was showing decreased electrical activity. and after the seizure it was back to normal. they thought maybe it was like my body hitting the hard reset button. lol. oddly enough, the tech running the machine was a nerd. we bumped fists over the idea of me being the next step in bioware evolution.

BUT. they gave me a bunch of Dilantin to supress any more seizures. and apparently, when chopped up and snorted, Dilantin hits like weird blow.

lol. it happened, it sucked, i got lucky and no permanent damage was done, 's over with. thannnnnks though honey!
best part was it WAS all thuggy black kids, but any Grrrr Black Folks! racist silly feelings were squasssshhhhed by all the concern from all my friends at school. we had 200 kids in the whole school, everybody knew each other, and i think every single one of them checked with me over the next week to see if i was ok. white people were a smaller percentage and it was a suuuuuuuper good lesson on how color really doesn't matter. people is peoples and all.
HAH. ug. school had some weird stuff. like the reservist army base next to school (we were on a community college campus) that half of it was closed down. so we'd sneak in and get drunk or bang chicks there. there was one grrL that i have no idea where she was from, her name was Virginia and she reallllly liked to hump, she ended up in our clique for about 3 weeks then disappeared. we had a few one on ones and multi partner thingies instead of classes.... she was the first grrL that i'd been with that was super frank about sex talk. only conversation i remember with her was being blown away by her saying, "yeah. i never really liked the taste of pussy. 's why i only want to finger grrLs instead of going down on them. huh. or maybe it's MY pussy? or how it tastes on a dick after it's been in me? this may require RESEARCH.".
eeeee. and we had one guy that was a NUTTER. i miss him. he said he was out of gang shit but he did grow up like that so most of his friends were thugged up. he ended up getting shot when we were 17 i think. made me really sad. great guy. but a bit weird.
part of a science class was going through a med lab that had a few cadavers. he bet someone $5 he would finger one of the older woman's bodies. he.... um. he earned that money. it was more shocking and weird than disrespectful at the time.

so, there's a brunchy cafe that's hellza good near me. working there is one RIDICULOUSLY HAWT GRRL, then all the other grrLs are kinda hawt or just cute 'cause of their attitude. one of the Lesser Cute GrrLs was refilling our coffee (me, and Paul, my little brother, a bestie friend and his cute ass 2.8 year old. the child didn't have any coffee.) and i was stretching my arms up and behind my head.

When I was 12 or so, on my birthday I got a huge box of Mon Cheri, that is a sort of praliné filled with cherry schnaps and a cherry (soaked in the stuff). So I got that in the morning and ate all of it for breakfast before going to school. I don't know why noone has thought about me getting completely shitfaced from the equivalent of two tumblers of schnaps. But noone warned me and off I went to school. I can't remember anything that happened that day, save for the surprise test in biology which for some reason I completely nailed. Got the best grade of all the class and to this day no idea why.
