I've come across enough situations like this to know that it's me that is the odd one out.
I honestly don't know what people mean when they use words like "fun". I think of a lot of things as "fun", but after countless discussions with people I've realized that I'm not talking about the same thing they are. To me "fun" means improving, productive, or challenging. Any other concept of what it could mean I just can't make sense of in my head. So like, working out, reading things that are well written or that have challenging ideas, practicing an instrument, playing a game that is difficult and requires problem solving or intense concentration or planning. All those things I count as "fun". I can't conceive of "fun" in any other terms.
Now, if I met an attractive girl - assuming I was magically single again lol - and she was reading something like Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman, or Riddle-Master (Patricia McKillip) - which I think is just beautifully written - that, is when sex happens, lol. There's nothing sexier than a girl with a sharp mind, a toned body, and good tastes.

depends where you're at. i've had phases where i just wanted to hang out with cute, malleable dumb grrLs. and them being vapid enough to want my BEHN FLAVORED POPSICLE (so awful) in her mouf, and think it's the depths of depravity to get tied up and smacked on the ass.... innocence, ruining, all that.
but yeah. i'd rather hang out long term with somebody with some depth and brain skeelz.
re: fun stupid stuff. i dunno meng. i like dumb movies sometimes. Crank is one of my favorite Turn Your Brain Off And Veg movies.... it's such an overabundance of action cliches that it's almost an intelligent deconstruction of the action movie. brilliant in it's stupidity.
urm..... i don't have enough attention span to finish anything as weighty as a novel. we could do a collaboration where people right chapters and i can go through and change bits to reflect what i'd rather see happening?
as long as there's a Sousie character getting fisted by a Deltz while casually drinking a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake. but both their peen's have to be written smaller than mine.

"Fun" has some implication of mindless self-indulgence. Interesting and worthwhile are the words I might use for what jfrey is describing, but for me its far more about mental stimulation than self-improvement. IMO, working out is just as idiotic and self-serving as porn; One of them is just more "fun". I too get annoyed when someone describes something as "Fun" and just leaves it at that, especially music. I mean, I can see a time and place for fun, but I'm also smart enough to come up with more adjectives to describe something I enjoy.
